Colorful Dimensional Butterfly Card | By Leigh Houston

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Leigh here, am so excited to be here with my first blog post for Birch Press Design! I am here today sharing a spring-inspired butterfly card I made using pretty patterned paper and wash tape. This card came together so easily using Birch Press Design’s Butterfly Garden Layering Dies.

I used Layer Plate C to make this card. I started by die cutting a panel out of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock. I used Copic markers to do some quick and simple coloring on the leaves and flowers.

To add some extra texture and dimension, I then added some hand stitching. This is so simple… I simply used a small embroidery needle and two strands of embroidery floss to stitch through the stitching lines created by the die. At this point, I adhered the stitched panel to a pink base and added my leaves.

Then came my favorite part of making this card… the butterflies! I made these using a gorgeous patterned paper from Memory Box’s Cottage Meadow 6×6 patterned paper pack and some washi tape. To make the washi tape butterflies, I took strips of washi tape and adhered them to some thin cardstock. I then die cut through the strips.

To make it look like the butterflies are flying, I folded them in half lengthwise and adhered them to the panel along that fold line.

To finish the card, I added some flower sequins, some washi tape flowers (made the same way as the butterflies), some colored dots I made with the white dots cut from the original panel, and a sentiment from Birch Press Designs’ Lovely Butterflies Stamp Set.

I had such fun creating this card! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and see you soon!
