Masculine Floral Valentine | by Tracey McNeely

Hi there it’s Tracey with a card and video. Today I will be using the Flora Heart Layers craft dies to share a way to use a floral die set to create a masculine design!

I personally love to make or receive a pretty pink Valentine card, but I may not want to give a card like that to my husband. By using colour and simplicity I was able to make the design more masculine taking the focus away from the flowers. I cut Layer A from red cardstock (for love) and Layers B and C from white cardstock. The three layers will all be visible, but the flowers inside the heart are a bit more subtle.

I used liquid glue to adhere the layers together. I like using liquid glue so I have a bit more time to get my die cuts lined up properly. I turned the layered heart over and attached small pieces of foam tape all so over the back so that you will not see the tape from the front of the card.

The cardbase was made from a soft grey cardstock to add a bit more subtle dimension. The sentiment is from the new Handwritten Love You craft dies which comes in three pieces. The outline was cut with white cardstock and the handwritten ‘Love You’ from a medium grey cardstock. I added that to the bottom of the card before adding the dimensional heart in the top middle.

By choosing the colours red, grey and white I was able to create a card that focuses more on the heart and sentiment rather than the flowers.

Thank you so much for stopping in to craft with me today. I hope you’re inspired to use your, more feminine, products in a more subtle way to make a masculine card! Pop back in tomorrow for more Birch Press Design inspiration!
