Dimensional Card Using Die Cut Negatives | By Leigh Houston

Hello, crafty friends! I’m here today with a card I made using Birch Press Design’s Avalon Frame Layer Set. To make this fun, colorful card, I used the negative die cuts that come out of the dies when you cut the beautiful layered panels. This was so fun to make and there was nothing wasted!

To start, I die cut all three panels from the Avalon Frame Layer Set. I then popped out the pieces from Layer A (the layer with the largest pieces) and colored them with markers. After adhering the Layer A panel onto a cardstock base, I glued the colored pieces back into their spaces (like putting together a puzzle). I then continued the process with Layer B, popping out the pieces, coloring them in, and glueing them onto the bottom later. I finished up with Layer C (the smallest pieces), again coloring and layering. This process was really methodical and relaxing, and didn’t take much time at all. I set aside the panels from Layers B and C for my next project.

To finish the card, I die cut a “Smile” sentiment from Birch Press’s Smile Sugar Script die three times, stacking them and then adding some clear glaze on top for some shine. Some black enamel dots finished up this card!

This card has so much fun texture and dimension. I hope you’re inspired to give this technique a try… it’s so fun, easy, and yet another way to stretch your Birch Press Designs Layering dies.

I’m so happy you stopped by today! I’ll see you soon with another card project!
