Happy Christmas Ornaments | by Rosemary Dennis

Hello BPD friends! Rosemary here on the blog today! Christmas is just two weeks away and I’m still making Christmas cards! This card was made with several new Birch Press Design products as well as two “oldies but goodies”. Let’s see what I created.

For my card I used the following new products: Block Print Petal Ornament, Block Print Wave Ornament, Block Print Drop Ornaments and Simple Pine Needles. The two older products I used are Contempo Christmas Greetings and Herbarium Layer A.

I decided to go with a simple color palette of light pink, silver and green. I die cut all my pieces and assembled the ornaments. I added glossy accents to the pine needles and then covered them with Rock Candy chunky glitter for sparkly, icy look.

I decided that I wanted a neutral background with a little bit of interest. I pulled out a favorite BPD layering die set called Herbarium and I used layer A to emboss a panel of off white cardstock. I love the subtle interest it provides while still keeping things simple.

I arranged my icy pine needles on the embossed panel using liquid adhesive and then layered the largest ornament on top and tucked the two smaller ones in beneath the larger one using liquid adhesive. I finished with the “Happy Christmas” sentiment from the Contempo Christmas Greetings set that I heat embossed with silver embossing powder after stamping with watermark ink. The sentiment was then die cut with a matching die and adhered to the card front.

Well, that’s it for me! I hope you enjoyed today’s project and that I provided you with inspiration to create with your new and old Birch Press Design products! Have a wonderful day and Merry Christmas!

Wise Fox | by Crystal Komara

Hello friends and happy December! This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today. I know it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere, but I still have one last fall themed card to share with you using the beautiful Block Print Wise Fox dies.

The base of this A2 sized card is made from 110 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using a copper and rust colored piece of alcohol ink paper (that I pulled from my own pre-made stash) I used this as a bold vibrant background. I die cut a 3″ circle and adhered it left of center on the card front.

Using the Block Print Wise Fox dies, I cut the dies from a variety of orange, brown and rust colored cardstock and then pieced them together in a pleasing palette of colors. I also used the Block Print Evergreen Trees die and cut them in the rust, orange and yellow cardstock piecing them together.

Next, I die cut the sentiment “warm wishes” using the Warm Wishes Vintage Sentiment dies. I die cut the base outline layer from rust cardstock and the top thin layer from white cardstock. I adhered the two layers together with a fine-tip liquid adhesive and then adhered the sentiment to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.

I love how this card turned out, particularly because of that beautiful alcohol ink background (which in all honesty, I tend to use a lot of)! Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

Warm Wishes Snowman | by Toni M Maddox

Hello, friends! Toni here with you today sending you many warm wishes to keep the cold at bay. Brrr!

I created the background first by diecutting the Bright Snowflakes a couple of times from Memory Box Lagoon 6×6 cardstock. Next, I mounted the snowflake panel on Memory Box Blush 6×6 cardstock. Isn’t this a fun color combination?!

I used the same colors to diecut the Warm Wishes Dapper Script sentiment which is popped up on foam squares.

To complete the card, I cut the Block Print Edge Snowman from white cardstock that I sponged along the edges with a bit of blue.

The scarf and nose are both cut from the Memory Box Blush 6×6 cardstock with the nose sponged with Catherine Pooler Tiara ink to orange it up.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and have a great rest of your week!

  • Merry & Bright Snowman | by Rosemary Dennis

Merry & Bright Snowman | by Rosemary Dennis

Hello! I hope everyone in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Can you believe that Christmas is just a few weeks away? I can’t! I’m still making Christmas cards. Today I’m sharing one that I made using the new Block Print Debonair Snowman and Block Print Evergreen Trees die sets. Let’s have a look at what I made.

Since I really loved the look of die cutting the big snowman from woodgrain cardstock I thought it would also be fun to do the same with the Block Print Debonair Snowman. I love how he turned out!

I also die cut the snow hill (using the Wavy Hillside) from the woodgrain cardstock. I added some glitter to the hillside using swirls of glue and Rock Candy glitter. I die cut all the pieces of the snowman from the woodgrain cardstock and then colored certain pieces with Copic Markers. When you are die cutting all the pieces make sure you keep track of the tiny eyes, nose and buttons so you can insert them back into the snowman once he is assembled.

The Block Print Evergreen Trees are a fun die set. There are the main tree dies and then layering dies. That means you can have two different looks. For my trees I decided to use just the base layer. I cut them from smooth white cardstock and then colored them with a Copic marker. I let the pieces sit for a little bit and the frosted them with glue and Rock Candy glitter.

Now it was time to get the card base ready. For this I started with a card base I made from dark blue cardstock. I then inked up the top and sides with Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot distress oxide ink. Once the ink blending complete I placed the card base in my splatter box and splattered on white paint for the look of snow. I let it dry for a bit and then built my little scene. I finished with a Memory Box banner tab.

I just love how my little scene turned out. The Debonair Snowman has to be one of my favorites from this release! He is just too darn cute. I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

  • Find Joy Cardinal | by Toni M Maddox

Find Joy Cardinal | by Toni M Maddox

Hello, crafty friends! Toni here with a masculine holiday card featuring a blend of our new and older release products.

I started my card by diecutting a piece of Memory Box Nutmeg Forest 6×6 Paper using a postage die.

Next, I cut the Simple Pine Needles and Bright Snowflakes from Lagoon 6×6 Paper. The Block Print Winter Pinecone is cut from kraft cardstock then sponged with Catherine Pooler ink.

I used Catherine Pooler ink to shade the Block Print Winter Cardinal as well. Isn’t that bird gorgeous? I particularly love the detail on the tail.

Finally, I added the Find Joy sentiment cut out from the same bright red as the cardinal. That really shows you the difference between shading your diecuts with ink and not doing so.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and have a great rest of your week!

Hello, friends! Toni here with you today with a winter card featuring rosy pink penguins. How cute!

I started my card by cutting out the Design Block Print Forest Scene from the card front.

I laid that over large scrap of a white glitter cardstock on which I had adhered Bright Snowflakes. Those are cut from Memory Box Lagoon 6×6 cardstock.

Next I cut out the Block Print Superb and Peaceful Penguins using Memory Box Blush 6×6 cardstock, shading the pieces using Catherine Pooler inks.

I cut the Warm Wishes Vintage Sentiment from a scrap of the Memory Box Lagoon 6×6 cardstock. A few clear sequins finish off the card.

Hello, friends! Toni here with you today with another holiday card, this time using the Block Print Ornament series.

To create the base of the card, I used various widths of Scor-Tape burnished with glitter for a subtle white-on-white striped effect for the background.

Next I cut out the Simple Evergreen Sprigs using Memory Box Lagoon 6×6 paper (I LOVE that there’s a solid-core paper option now).

Next, I cut out the Block Print Wave, Block Print Petal and Block Print Drop Ornaments from Memory Box Blush 6×6 cardstock and a gold foil from my stash.

I finished the card using part of the Dapper Merry Christmas sentiment. So so pretty!

Hey, Foxy! | by Toni M Maddox

Hey, my foxy friends! Toni here today sharing the first of many projects using the latest release. You are going to love it!

I cut out the Block Print Wise Fox and sponged it using Catherine Pooler inks. I used black Enamel Accents for the eyes and nose.

While that was drying, I cut out the Wavy Hillside, Block Print Evergreen Trees, and Block Print Forest Scene elements using Memory Box Nutmeg Forest and Nutmeg Plaid 6×6 papers.

I used the Tim Holtz Moon Mask on the Block Print Forest Scene moon using Catherine Pooler inks.

I think the sentiment is from Spellbinders but not positive.

  • Majestic Whale | by Rosemary Dennis

Majestic Whale | by Rosemary Dennis

Hello, Rosemary here on the blog today sharing a birthday card that I created using the Majestic Whale die set. Let’s have a look at what I made.

Ever start making a project and then decide halfway through that you don’t like it and go in a completely different direction? Well, that was me, lol! I had a completely different color scheme/idea for my card using different dies and for whatever reason I couldn’t make it work.

As I was working on the first idea I decided to create an alcohol ink background to see if that would help my initial idea work. Loved the background I created, but it didn’t go with the other colors and fish I was using. Then I thought of the Majestic Whale die set. I hadn’t used that set yet so set aside the other fish and idea to start fresh.

I die cut the whale from a light blue Memory Box cardstock and then added distress oxide ink in Chipped Sapphire ink to darken up tail and top portion of the whale. I added a little bit to the belly and fin, as well. Then I adhered everything together. Before the alcohol ink had completely dried I added a little touch of gold using a foil sheet in rose gold. Then I die cut the background using a Memory Box arched rectangle die.

I adhered everything to the card front using glue and then added the sentiment that I hot foiled using the Sugar Script Sentiments 2 hot foil set. I added a little bit of ink to the edges so that it blended in with the background. Well, that is it for me. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

  • Just Because | by Crystal Komara

Just Because | by Crystal Komara

Hello readers! This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today sharing a card that I made using products from the Block Print Ocean inspired collection. Yes, this is my third card this month using some of these products, because it is such a beautiful collection, particularly if you are into the nautical theme.

The base of this A2 sized card is made from 110 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I used a piece of pre-watercolored background paper as the first layer. I keep a stack or supply of watercolored backgrounds and alcohol ink backgrounds, because it’s SO much easier to just pull from them, rather than creating on the fly.

Using the Block Print Majestic Whale and Block Print Whale duo, I die cut the whales from a navy blue cardstock and white cardstock. I used a liquid adhesive to adhere the components together and then once the whale pieces were assembled, I added the whales to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.

Using the Sea Kelp and Mini Fish dies, I die cut the key from a lighter blue and a green cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on a white circle in navy ink.

What a majestic whale! It makes for such an elegant card. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day.
