An Extra Touch!

One of my favorite parts of a party whether it’s Christmas, a birthday, or some of my girlfriends are just coming over for a good time, is the presentation of the food. It might not make a big difference to some people, but it adds a nice touch to the occasion, at least for me. I love playing around with different looks and textures to my presentation. Lately I have been loving the new marble serving boards Birch Press Design recently got in!

The rounded corners give the board a modern look while the neutral tone of the board makes for a great canvas for my delicious treats! Available in sizes small, wide, and long, you can display an assortment of foods varying in shapes and sizes!

Bedroom Neutrals

My recent obsession has been Pinterest lately. Whenever I have some down time, you can find me on the couch snuggled up with a blanket and a cup of green tea with my iPad scrolling through the app pinning left and right. It has inspired me to redecorate my house, try new recipes, and look into lots of new DIYs. So I warn you: once you open this app, you may not be able to put it down!

I especially love looking at the home decor pins and I have definitely noticed a trend when it comes to the ones I re-pin onto my board. I love the minimalist style; it just looks so fresh and clean!

A key to the look I want to achieve includes lots of neutrals! Neutrals with pops of greenery or beautiful paintings is what I love! And you know what that means…time to purchase new decor!

Especially For You

I think we may be getting our first glimpse of spring here in the Pacific Northwest and the mood is wonderful. The clouds are parting and the sun may be peeking through a bit over the next couple days and I can’t wait to head for the mountains and hike a bit. My go to trail is Annette Lake – it isn’t too far from Seattle (just a 45 minute drive) – but provides a nice steep, escape to a beautiful hidden lake at the top of the mountain.

Hiking has always been a perfect way to collect my thoughts – there’s nothing like a long, peaceful hike to clear out the cobwebs and re-organize all of my mental to-do lists. It is a chance to prioritize whats important – for instance, making sure that you are recognizing the important people in your lives. I keep a little stash of gift wrapping supplies at hand for birthdays and “just because” gifts, and these little laser engraved wood tags are just the cutest little addons for packages.

And the best part about hiking? When you are done!

Annette Trail is a 7 and 1/2 mile in and out hike, most of which is super steep – so by the end of it, you really feel like you’ve accomplished something! Then it’s time to refuel back at home – so I keep a constant supply of dried fruit, spiced almonds and cashews in these beautiful bowls on our countertop and snack on them throughout the day.

The size is perfect – the nested bowls come in a range of sizes, so I choose the smaller ones for this task. And their shapes are unique to each set – I just love these beautiful, handmade bowls -and their colors are dreamy. They make whatever you put in them look classy and thoughtful.

But seriously, if you are going to hike for 7 1/2 miles, the reward should be fitting. So I say serious hiking calls for a serious reward. And my go-to for a serious reward is Twice Baked Chocolate Croissants from Bakery Nouveau. Just place 2 or 3 of these on one of our cake stands before you head out in the morning and you’ll return to a delightfully decadent display.

After you wind down with one of these and a cup of tea, all you’ll be thinking is life is sweet.

Always be Ready!

In my opinion it is always handy to have blank cards on deck for those surprise ocassions. You know, that persons birthday you remembered a little too late, and you don’t have time to run to the store to grab a card.

Baby Shower Fun!

Over the weekend, my cousin had her baby shower for her bouncing baby girl with our family! We played tons of fun games, ate cute little treats, and watched her open gifts (I think she has enough onsies to last her a couple years).

When she asked me to be in charge of the food and dining, I got to planning right away! My cousin loves chocolate more than anything so I knew I had to find a chocolate recipe for the desserts. After searching, I found just the right cookies that had frosting on the top! I turned to pinterest for some adorable centerpieces but I felt like something was missing.

I turned to Birch Press Design to add a little extra touch to the dining table! We have the most adorable place cards in right now. They come in a variety of charming designs. I used the gold lace design, which fit in perfect with the theme of the baby shower.

It may seem like such a tiny detail, but it’s the little things that can add so much to a dining table!

New year, new bedding!

2016 has arrived and I think it’s time to change things up a bit. Maybe I’ll actually make those recipes I’ve been saving, get a new haircut, and of course redecorate!

Because a new attitude calls for new surrounding, I changed a few vases and centerpieces within the home but, a majority of my redecoration happens in the bedroom because that’s the part of the house that gets to be my peaceful place!

This year, decorating the bedroom has become a lot easier with Birch Press’s large selection of bedding!

Gift Tag Galore

A problem that I used to run into every birthday, wedding, or graduation party is wrapping up the gift, tying the perfect bow, and then realizing I have no place to write who it’s from!

At this point, since I am a procrastinator and probably have to leave for the party, I need to write my to and from straight on the gift!
