Easter Egg Hugs | By Amanda Wilcox

Hello everyone! It’s Amanda from Twiddler’s Nook today and I have a trio of cards to share featuring the petal egg layering set and a few different backgrounds to pair it with.

To start off today’s cards, I just pulled out a variety of cardstock colors – glitter and not – and started cutting the layers of the petal egg. It was so fun to mix and match, and just play, with all of them once they were cut out.

After I decided on the layers that I wanted to use together, I ended up with three complete eggs and thought it would be fun to make three cards to share with you today.

For my backgrounds, I used layer A and C of the Field of Blooms set. Then for my third card I pulled out the Memory Box spring plaid paper pad and chose one of the beautifully foiled pieces to use.

I used liquid glue to adhere all of my egg layers together and decided I wanted the backs to be solid so the background panels didn’t show through. Since there isn’t a solid egg shape I traced one of the dies three times and cut inside the tracing line and glued it to the back of my layers. If anything hung over, I just used my scissors to trim off the excess. Super easy and forgiving if you don’t fussy cut well.

I used liquid glue to adhere the Field of Blooms backgrounds to white card bases and then used foam tape to add the plaid paper, which I had trimmed down to 4×5.25 inches. Then for my sentiment, I went with the hugs honey script dies. I cut the shadow from vellum and then the words from the same paper as the bottom layer of the egg it was coordinating with.

I adhered the sentiments with liquid glue and the popped the eggs up on each background with foam tape. For finishing touches I added baubles to each one. This first one has gold to play off the gold foiling in the patterned paper.

Then I used silver baubles for this one because I thought the bright colors worked well with the bright silver.

And for this final card, I chose pearls because it’s got a bit softer colors and I just loved how they worked with the pink glitter paper on the top layer of the egg.

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

  • Petal Egg in 3 Colors | by Crystal Komara

Petal Egg in 3 Colors | by Crystal Komara

Hello friends and welcome back from the weekend! This is Crystal here with you today and I’m sharing three cards made using the beautiful Petal Egg Layering Dies for this trio of Easter inspired cards.

Please continue reading to see how I made these cards:

First, I die cut the three layers of the Petal Egg die. For the orange colored card, I die cut Layer A (the top layer) from white cardstock, Layer B (the middle layer) from a peach colored cardstock and Layer C (the bottom layer) from orange glitter cardstock.

I did the same thing for the both the purple and yellow Easter eggs too. For the purple colored card, I die cut Layer A (the top layer) from white cardstock, Layer B (the middle layer) from a purple glittery cardstock and Layer C (the bottom layer) from lavender purple cardstock.

Using a liquid adhesive (LineCo ph bookbinding glue) is my go to!) I began to adhere all the layers of each egg together and set them aside.

Next I worked on the card base itself. The base of each card is made from 80 lb. Neenah White Solar Smooth cardstock and then I used a scalloped rectangle die to die cut purple, peach and yellow cardstock for a strong background. I dry embossed three pieces of 5″ x 3 3/4″ sheets of Neenah white cardstock to add more dimension to the background.

I stamped a sentiment on thin strips of white cardstock and then I heat embossed the word “Easter” on coordinating sheets of peach, purple and yellow cardstock. I adhered the sentiments to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.

I love how these cards turned out and even though I chose to make them in these three colors, you could use whatever monochromatic color scheme you would like for equally beautiful results!

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

  • Tulip Fields Layering Plate | by Crystal Komara

Tulip Fields Layering Plate | by Crystal Komara

Hello crafty readers and happy Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today I am sharing my first spring inspired card using the beautiful new Tulip Fields Layering Plate.

For this A2 sized card, I only used Layer C (or the bottom layer) of the Tulip Layering Plate dies. I love being able to use these dies together as a group of three, or as stand alone dies, so you get more for your money!

To create this card, first I die cut Layer C from four different color of cardstock – white, peach, yellow and pink.

I separated all the little tulip heads by color after running each color cardstock through my Big Shot machine.

I placed a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of white cardstock behind the white Layer C tulip cut cardstock. I lined this paper with Tombow dot adhesive, so that when the tulip paper was placed on top, there were still sticky holes left for me to place each tulip head.

I placed the tulip heads in yellow, peach and pink rows. Yes, I had to place them into position one-by-one, then I added a scalloped circle with a sentiment and voila, all done!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

  • Easter Petal Egg | By Seeka

Hello! It’s Seeka here and today I’m sharing an Easter card featuring the Petal Egg Layer Die set.

I started off by cutting the three layers of the egg in shades of violet cardstock from the Memory Box Vibrant Violet 6×6 paper pack.

Next, I adhered the layers together and then adhered jewel embellishments over the pattern of small dots in the die-cut pattern. I also stamped sentiments from the Blooming Spring stamp set onto a strip of white cardstock and adhered it over the bottom right of the egg.

For the background, I trimmed a piece of teal cardstock from the Memory Box Fresh Aqua paper pack to about 4″ x 5.25″ inch. To add a bit of interest, I used a blending brush to blend on a bit of teal dye ink at the corners of the panel.

Next, I used a small round paint brush to splatter a bit of white Dina Wakley Media Gloss Spray over the panel.

To assemble the card, I adhered the egg and sentiment to the teal panel and then used foam tape to adhere the card front to an 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base.

Thank you so much for visiting!

  • Enchantment meets Crystal Lingo | By Amanda Wilcox

Enchantment meets Crystal Lingo | By Amanda Wilcox

Hello everyone! It’s Amanda from Twiddler’s Nook today with another pair of cards to share. I seem to have a hard time either making choices or letting die cuts go to waste so I rarely make just one card anymore.

This all started with my wanting to play with the Enchantment layering dies and create the card on the left. But I couldn’t let that ring go to waste so I die cut the middle portion a second time and created the card you see on the right. I made them simultaneously so forgive me if my tutorial today flips back and forth.

I started by die cutting all the pieces from the three Enchantment layers once and the center portion a second time. My bottom layer is Thermoweb Deco Foil Flock, the middle layer is a textured cardstock and the top is a smooth cardstock. These three together look so cool in person! Definitely worth it!

Once these were cut, I used liquid glue to adhere all the layers together and started playing with backgrounds.

I ended up doing some ink smooshing with my Tombow markers for the first card. I always lay down one layer of ink, dry it with my heat gun and keep layering until I like it. Then I set it aside to dry.

While that was drying I blended tattered rose and dried marigold distress oxide inks on a panel. Then I spritzed it with water and flicked pearl watercolor on it. Once that was dry I trimmed it down to 4×5.25 inches and lined the back with foam tape to adhere to a white card base.

After adhering my backgrounds to card bases, I stamped and heat embossed sentiments from Crystal Lingo and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Then I trimmed the smaller ones into strips.

Assembly was simple using liquid glue for the layerd die cuts and a combination of foam squares and liquid glue for the sentiments.

I did the same thing for both cards and then finished them both off with some pearl baubles for a little extra shine and interest.

I hope you found some inspiration to create something wonderful today.

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

You Are Special To Me | Dilay Nacar

    Welcome back, friends!

Today I am excited to be sharing a sweet and simple card with all of you that features the new Field of Blooms layering die set! This layering die set is perfect for the upcoming season! In today’s card, I’ve used it a bit differently because I love finding unconventional ways to use things – not to mention how much I love sharing ways to stretch your supplies! Let’s get started!

Although this layering set consists of 3 plates, I only used Layer A to create this card! I began by die cutting it once in heavyweight white cardstock and once each in green, coral, and yellow cardstock – making sure to keep all of the negative pieces to use for the inlay – then adhered the white layer onto a white A2-sized card base.

Next, I added a row of colored tulips, using liquid adhesive to inlay the green negative pieces for the leaves and the yellow and coral negative pieces for the tulips. Since I love a clean, white background, I chose to make a single row of tulips but if you wish to add more tulips to the panel, I’d recommend using a low tack tape such as PostIt or PressNSeel to keep all of the negative pieces together.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Big Hugs Sugar Script die three times in white cardstock, heat embossed one of them in gold, then stacked all three together, adhering it to the panel with liquid glue. For the sub-sentiment, I heat embossed the ‘You are special to me’ stamp from the Crystal Lingo clear stamp set and adhered it to the panel with foam squares.

That’s it! Simple right? This is just one of the ways to use this great layering die set, and the best part is that you have plenty of die cuts leftover that you can use to add some color to other cards! Thank you so much for stopping by! Until next time!

  • Crystal Lingo Birthday | by Crystal Komara

Crystal Lingo Birthday | by Crystal Komara

Hello readers and happy Monday! I hope you all did something fun and crafty over the weekend. This is Crystal here with you today sharing a fun rainbow themed card I made using the new “Crystal Lingo” stamp set and coordinating dies. Yes, I’d like to think this new set was named after or even for me (though that’s likely not the case)! : )

Here is a step-by-step tutorial for how to make this card:

Step 1 – Using the Pinpoint Radial Layering plate, die cut the first layer from white cardstock.

Step 2: Using Versamark ink, stamp the word “HAPPY” from the Crystal Lingo stamp set on scrap pieces of paper in rainbow colors and heat emboss the words with white embossing powder.

Step 3: Using the coordinating Crystal Lingo dies, die cut the word “HAPPY” multiple times from each rainbow colored piece of cardstock.

Step 4 (*Optional): I also die cut the word “HAPPY” six times from white adhesive craft foam. This will allow me to pop up my sentiment without having to cut down 3M foam tape to size, or by using little foam pieces of adhesive. It was an added step, but so worth it in the long run!

The base of this A2 sized card is an 80 lb. sheet of Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I layered the white cardstock (embossed with the Pinpoint Radial die) directly to the white card base and layered the words “HAPPY” in a rainbow ROYGBIV pattern from tp to bottom. Lastly, I heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder on black cardstock and adhered it to the center of the card.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

  • Any Time Layered Hearts

    Any Time Layered Hearts

Hi there, it’s Tracey here today with a couple square cards using the Layered Hearts dies. These began as cards for Valentines, but time got away from me. So they were finished after the 14th as cards that you can send any time of the year. Both of today’s cards are 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ square and although the cards are different, they both use the same process.

The Kinsley Heart and the Petal Heart layer sets are beautiful whether you use all three layers together or just the top for a delicate look! I love this die set because even with all three layers you can still see the amazing stitched lines on the bottom layer!

To make the pink heart using all three layers of the Kinsley Heart layers dies. I began by blending a panel with Distress Oxide Inks–Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves. This will be the background for the layered heart and the bottom layer of the letter dies. It was cut with the largest heart in the Perfect Hearts die set. The layers of the Kinsley heart were cut from white cardstock and glued together. The ‘xoxo’ was cut using the Mod Alphabet die set. The bottom layer from the ink blended panel and the top from white cardstock.

Before attaching the layered heart and ‘xoxo’ to the card base it was spritzed with Distress Oxide Spray in Picked Raspberry. I sponged a bit a pink ink on the centre of the heart for interest.

The green card used the Petal Layers die set, but only Layer A for a more delicate design.

Just like with the pink card I blended a panel with Distress Oxide Inks, this time I used Tumble Glass, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers. I used the panel once again for the layered heart and the bottom layer of the letter dies. Layer A of the Petal Heart layer set was cut from white cardstock. The ‘xoxo’ was cut using the Mod Alphabet die set. The bottom layer from the ink blended panel and the top from white cardstock.

This time before attaching the heart and ‘xoxo’ to the card base it was spritzed with Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Spray.

So quick and so fun to use similar supplies and the same basic techniques to make two cards to you can use to Share Handmade Kindness!

Thank you so much for stopping in to craft with me, see you next time.

  • Stitched Stripe Kinsley Heart Layer Dies | By Leigh Houston

Stitched Stripe Kinsley Heart Layer Dies | By Leigh Houston

Oh, how I love a stitched stripe! This is my current favorite technique for adding some super easy, super simple stitching and a modern touch to a die cut card. It paired so beautifully with Birch Press Designs’s Kinsley Heart Layer Dies, and I’m excited to walk you through this fun technique!

I started my card by die cutting strips of red and pink cardstock in varying widths. I found the center of my card panel and adhered the first strip down the middle using liquid adhesive. I then used a paper piercer, poked holes along the sides of this strip, and added simple backstitching through these holes in shades of pink thread. I then adhered two more strips along the edges of this center strip, again poking holes down the sides and adding stitching. I kept on adding layers of strips and stitching until I achieved the width I was after. So easy!

I then assembled my Kinsley Layer Heart. I die cut my layers from pink, red and white cardstock and adhered them together using liquid adhesive. I then die cut my sentiment from the Hello Sugar Script die four times, layering them together to create dimension. After adhering it to the center of my heart, I added some crystal glaze for some shine. After that, I simply adhered the heart to the center of my cardstock strips and this card was finished!

I am such a huge fan of how stitching adds such a unique touch to handmade cards, and this technique is such a fast and pretty way to add this special accent. I hope you enjoyed this project, and I’ll see you again soon with another project from Birch Press Designs!

  • Linear Triangle Paper Weaving | By Dilay Nacar

Linear Triangle Paper Weaving | By Dilay Nacar

    Hello, friends!

Dilay here and today, I’m sharing an unconventional (but super fun) way to use the brand new Linear Triangle die! The moment I saw this die, I envisioned a card that incorporated it with paper weaving, and this is what I created!

To begin, I picked out a few of my favorite cardstock colors and die cut them using the Linear Triangle die. I did the same with white cardstock, then using a simple paper weaving technique, I weaved the colored cardstock strips through the white triangle.

While weaving, I made sure to keep the strips evenly spaced and straight and once completely woven, I used glue to secure the ends of the strip to the white triangle.

After allowing it to dry, I trimmed off the overhang then adhered the triangles onto an A2-sized panel using thin foam adhesive.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Big Friend Sugar Script Die, twice in white cardstock and once in gold then die cut the shadow die in heavyweight vellum. I stacked all of the layers together then adhered them to the center of the panel with liquid glue.

For the sub-sentiment, I used the ‘I miss your face’ stamp from the new Crystal Lingo clear stamp set, heat embossing it in gold then adhering it under the main sentiment with a foam square.

I hope that you enjoyed my card today! I love using dies in different ways, and this die was just perfect to use with paper weaving. I hope you’re inspired to try it out too! Wishing everyone a wonderful day!
