Hi, friends! I’m so happy you joined us here today. I created this dimensional die cut card using Birch Press Designs’s Field of Blooms layering dies, and I’m excited to walk you through the process!
I started this card using Layer A of the Field of Blooms layering dies, cutting it out 3 times from 110# cardstock. I popped out all of the little flowers and leaves, and adhered one of the panels to a white card base (I saved the two extra panels for future projects). I then used liquid adhesive to stack 3 layers of tulips and 2 layers of leaves on top of each other, leaving two rows blank for the sentiment. This sounds time-consuming, but it was quite quick and really easy. To finish the tulips, I die cut some coral and hot pink colored tulips from colored cardstock and adhered them on top. I then used Copic markers to color the leaves and adhered them on as well. I wish that photography captured the fun dimension of this card!
To create my sentiment strip, I cut a coordinating strips of pink cardstock and white cardstock and added a row of handstitching for some texture. I then stamped my “you are the best” sentiment from the You Are Awesome stamp set and die cut my sugar script “thanks” from gold mirror cardstock. And with that, this card was finished!
I hope you enjoyed this project! Links to the products I used are below. Thank you for stopping by today and I’ll see you again soon with more cardmaking projects!
Hello, friends! I’m so happy to be here today to show you how I made this card pairing the gorgeous Viola Layer Plates with stitched floral accents. This card represents everything I love about cardmaking: stitching on paper, die cutting, and simple coloring!
I started my card by stamping this beautiful floral image from Memory Box’s All the Happiness stamp set onto 110# white cardstock. I then did some super simple copic coloring before using a piercing tool to poke holes along all of the stamped lines. I then used coordinating embroidery thread to do some simple backstitching along the image outlines. I added some floral sequins and yellow gems as well. Once this very easy and relaxing stitching was complete, I fussy cut the image (die cutting tends to smash the stitching) and set it aside.
To create my background, I die cut layers A and B from the Viola layering dies from 80# white cardstock. I adhered them together and to a white card base using liquid adhesive. Using the same adhesive, I then adhered my floral image to the upper corner.
To finish my card, I cut my sentiment from the “sending” and “love” sugar script dies three times from white 110# cardstock and once from gold mirror cardstock, layering them together with liquid adhesive for dimension. All there was left to do was adhere the sentiment to the card and this project was finished!
I really loved making this card and I hope it inspires you to combine stitching and beautiful die cut backgrounds in your projects! Links to the products I used are below. Thanks so much for stopping by today and I’ll see you again tomorrow with another Birch Press Designs cardmaking project!
Oh, how I love a stitched stripe! This is my current favorite technique for adding some super easy, super simple stitching and a modern touch to a die cut card. It paired so beautifully with Birch Press Designs’s Kinsley Heart Layer Dies, and I’m excited to walk you through this fun technique!
I started my card by die cutting strips of red and pink cardstock in varying widths. I found the center of my card panel and adhered the first strip down the middle using liquid adhesive. I then used a paper piercer, poked holes along the sides of this strip, and added simple backstitching through these holes in shades of pink thread. I then adhered two more strips along the edges of this center strip, again poking holes down the sides and adding stitching. I kept on adding layers of strips and stitching until I achieved the width I was after. So easy!
I then assembled my Kinsley Layer Heart. I die cut my layers from pink, red and white cardstock and adhered them together using liquid adhesive. I then die cut my sentiment from the Hello Sugar Script die four times, layering them together to create dimension. After adhering it to the center of my heart, I added some crystal glaze for some shine. After that, I simply adhered the heart to the center of my cardstock strips and this card was finished!
I am such a huge fan of how stitching adds such a unique touch to handmade cards, and this technique is such a fast and pretty way to add this special accent. I hope you enjoyed this project, and I’ll see you again soon with another project from Birch Press Designs!
Hello, friends! I am so excited to be here today sharing this super simple string art-inspired card featuring just one layer of the Kinsley Heart Layer set! I love how you can take one simple layer and really highlight its individual features.
I started my card by die cutting Layer A from the Kinsley Heart Layer Set from white 110# cardstock. I glued this to a piece of red cardstock using liquid adhesive and trimmed around the edges. To add some dimension and texture, I poked holes around the inside of each of the cutouts and added some simple backstitching in pink embroidery floss. This was so simple, quick, and relaxing!
To add even more texture and dimension, I decided to add a string art-inspired background to my card. For a detailed tutorial on how I made this background, you can check out this post. For this card, I used two shades of pink and one shade of red thread.
To finish my card, I die cut the Love Sugar Script die four times, stacking it for dimension. I adhered it to the center of my heart and added some crystal glaze on top for some shine. All that was left to do was adhere the stitched heart to the center of the card and this project was finished!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back in a couple of days featuring another way to add stitching to your Birch Press Designs projects. See you soon!
Hello, friends! Thank you for stopping by today! I’m here sharing this card featuring Birch Press Designs’s Frosty Flake layering dies. I accented this perfect snowflake with a stitched stripe background, and I’ll walk you through the process today!
I started my card with my background. I cut an A2-sized panel of blush cardstock and some coordinating 1/4″ strips of coordinating pink and white cardstock. To create the background, I would glue one strip down at a time and then add a quick and simple line of backstitching down its side before adhering the next strip. I did the stitching by hand, but this would be equally easy to do with a sewing machine.
To make the snowflake, I die cut all three layers of the Frosty Flake layering dies from white cardstock, adhering them together with liquid glue. I then cut an additional layer A from heavy 110# vellum, adhering it on top of the snowflake only in the center to allow the edges to raise up for some dimension. I finished the snowflake by adhering a silver gem in the center.
To finish the card, I die cut my “thanks” sentiment from the Thanks Sugar Script die (die cutting it from white and a darker pink, slightly offsetting the white on top to create a shadow). A few glittery sequins and this card was finished!
I hope you enjoyed this project. Links to the products I used are below. Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon with another Birch Press Designs’s project!
Hello, friends! I am so happy you stopped by today for this holiday string art card made with Birch Press Designs’s Flicker Ornament Layering dies. I had so much fun making this card… let’s walk through the process!
I started my card by making a string art base on a panel of kraft cardstock. You can find a photo tutorial on how to make this panel here. Then it was time to make the ornament. I cut a base layer from blush pink cardstock using Birch Press’s Ornament Basics die set (an absolute must-have for creating beautiful Christmas bauble ornament). I also cut accents from metallic gold cardstock and plain white cardstock, layering them to create the ornament.
For my embellishments, I used the Flicker Ornament Layer B die to cut pieces from wool felt. Before cutting, I adhered double sided adhesive to the back of the felt and used a precision cutting plate to make sure I got nice clean cuts. After adhering the pieces to my ornament, I poked holes around the edges and added simple backstitching for added texture. I also added french knots along the pierced border of the ornament embellishments for some more interest.
To finish my card, I stamped my sentiment onto blush cardstock using the Christmas Ornament and Labels stamp set, embossing it in gold. I adhered my ornament to the string art base, added my sentiment, and dotted a few gold sequins here and there for a little sparkle.
I hope you enjoyed this fun holiday card and that it inspired you for your holiday craft projects! Links to the products I used are below. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon with another Birch Press Designs cardmaking project!
Hello, friends! Thanks for stopping by today to check out this fun string art card featuring Birch Press Designs’s Frosty Flake Layering Dies. This card was super simple and fun to make, and it makes for such an impactful holiday card!
I started my card by with an A2-sized white 110# cardstock panel. I then used a ruler to draw lines 1/4″ inside the edges. Along those lines, I poked holes 1/4″ apart. I also poked a hole into the center of the panel (tip: make this hole BIG, since you will be passing a needle and thread through it many times!) I then erased my pencil lines and trimmed a tiny amount off all four edges so I could mount the card onto a pink base later.
Then came the stitching! I used three strands of embroidery floss in white and 3 shades of pink. To achieve this look, simple attach your thread to the back of the panel with some tape, and stitch from the outer hole through the inner hole, over and over. This process is really easy and fast.
Then I die cut my center snowflake using the Frosty Flake Layering dies. I cut Layer C from iridescent white cardstock, Layer B from vellum, and Lake A from white cardstock. After adhering these together using liquid adhesive, I adhered it to the center of my panel. I then stamped my sentiment from the Christmas Ornament and Labels stamp set onto vellum, heat embossing it in silver and die cutting it with the coordinating die. I ran this vellum piece through a Xyron sticker maker and adhered it over my snowflake. A few iridescent sequins and this card was finished!
I hope you enjoyed this project! Links to the products I used are below. Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!
Hello, friends! Have you started your holiday crafting yet? I am just dipping my toes into the holidays, and I was so excited to start the season making a card featuring the gorgeous Frosty Flake Layered Snowflake dies from Birch Press Design!
I started this winter-themed card by creating my background. I used white pigment ink and the Memory Box Fractal Diamond stencil to create a subtle background on a piece of light aqua cardstock. I then die cut two foliage pieces with Memory Box’s Silverdale Branch die, which is a gorgeous foliage die. I used Copic markers to color in the die cuts before adhering them to my card. A tip: to create dimension on your cards, don’t adhere the ends of your foliage die cuts. It’s so beautiful and interesting to see the ends of the die cuts floating from the surface of the card!
I then die cut all 3 layers from Birch Press Designs’s Frosty Flake, using vellum for layers A and C and white cardstock for layer B. I adhered this beautiful snowflake over my foliage. I then cut two smaller snowflakes from the Mini Snowflake Frame, using all 3 layers in the same configuration as the first snowflake. I adhered these on the edge of my card.
To finish the card, I heat embossed my sentiment from the Christmas Ornament and Labels stamp set on vellum. After adhering this to my card, I added white splatters over the whole surface and a few sparkly sequins here and there.
I hope you enjoyed this project! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you again soon with another Birch Press Design cardmaking project!
Hello, friends! I am so excited to be sharing these cards made with Birch Press Designs’s Dahlia Heart Layering Die set. Keep reading to see how easy it was to create these die cut cards with felt!
Over the past months where we’ve been spending more time at home than normal, my daughter has re-discovered her crafty side and the joy of making and giving handmade gifts. She is into all things boho, and I was inspired by her favorite color palette in making this trio of cards made with wool felt so she could give these cards to her friends.
I started my cards by selecting three shades of wool felt in pink, peach and yellow (I recommend using a good quality wool felt for this). I adhered a sheet of double-sided adhesive to the back of each piece, and ran them through my die cut machine with Birch Press Designs’s Dahlia Heart Layer A die. I ran each piece through twice to make sure I got a nice clean cut through my felt (a precision base plate is also helpful when die cutting wool felt). I then die cut the same shape out of heavy 110# white cardstock three times and adhered each one to a base. After that, I took individual pieces of felt and inlaid them into the cardstock bases. This went quicker than you’d think (about the length of one bad TV show LOL), and how great is it that you get three different hearts out of this one process? Not to mention that the soft texture of the die cuts lends such a unique and special touch to the cards.
After finishing my die cut inlay, I wanted to create three distinctive card designs to showcase these soft and pretty hearts. For the first, I adhered a strip of coordinating patterned paper to white woodgrain-embossed cardstock and attached the heart to the left of the panel. I cut my sentiment from Birch Press’s Smile Sugar Script die from woodgrain patterned paper and added a few gold gems to finish the card.
For my second card, I cut a white panel from Birch Press’s Amour Layer A die and adhered it to a base I cut from woodgrain paper. I adhered my card on top, wrapping it with twine for some more texture. I stamped my sentiment from Poppystamps’s Greeting Basics stamp set onto vellum, embossing it in gold and cutting it out in a tag shape (and cutting out an identical tag shape from dark woodgrain cardstock as a base). I hung the tags from the twine to finish the card.
For my third card, I die cut all three layers from Birch Press’s Grace Layering Die set and adhered them to a deep yellow card base. I then simply adhered the heart, die cut my sentiment from the Hugs Sugar Script die, and added some gems for a little added sparkle.
I can’t tell you how much fun I had making these cards! They have already been confiscated by my daughter to give to her friends, and I can’t wait to try this technique with more dies. I hope this inspired you to try some felt in your die cut designs. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you again soon with more Birch Press Designs projects!
Hello, friends! I am so happy to be here today sharing this stitched card I made using Birch Press Designs’s Autumn Leaves Layering Die Set. This card was such fun and was so easy to make thanks to these beautiful layering dies!
I started my card by die cutting layers A and B, adhering them together, then adhering them atop an A2-sized aqua base. I then die cut my leaves using pretty shades of pink, orange, and yellow cardstock using layer c. To add some extra texture and dimension, I stitched the leaves using 4 strands of 6-strand embroidery floss. To achieve this, I poked holes in every about other stitch hole with a paper piercer to enlarge the holes. I then stitched through those holes using a simple backstitch.
I then used Poppystamps’s Greetings Basics stamp set to emboss my sentiment in gold onto white cardstock. I fussy cut a tag shape and popped it up on foam tape. I then adhered a pretty gold ribbon underneath the tag and adhered the leaves around the tag using liquid adhesive. A few gems here and there finished this card.
I hope you enjoyed this project! Links to the products I used are below. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you again soon with another Birch Press designs card project!
