    Monochromatic Torus Rings | by Crystal Komara

    Hello friends and happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This is Crystal Komara here with you today sharing two cards using the Torus Ring Die by Birch Press Design in monochromatic colors to create some cheerful greeting cards. I’ll admit that I didn’t love this geometric shaped die initially, but after creating these cards, I’m now giving it a second chance!

    For this first card, I used the Ocean Blues Paper Pack and Twinkling Jewel paper pack to create a monochromatic blue color palette.

    The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I die cut just Layer Plate A from the Viola Layering Plates out of white cardstock and adhered it directly to my card base using Lineco ph bookbinding glue, my go-to liquid adhesive.

    I die cue the Torus Ring outline from white cardstock. Using the second small die in the Torus Ring set, I die cut various pieces of blue paper that I adhered behind the white frame. I adhered the entire Torus Ring to the card with 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. For the sentiment I used the Big Hello Sugar Script die. This is a two-piece layering word die that creates a shadowlike effect. I die cut the large base layer from white cardstock and the top layer from blue cardstock. I adhered both layers together with liquid glue and then adhered the entire sentiment to the card using 3M foam adhesive.

    I added the word “hello friend” from the Ticker Tape stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in blue ink and fussy cut the block outline. I adhered this sentiment below the word “hello” with 3M foam adhesive.

    For the second card, I used all of the same steps as the first, but I changed my colors to a pink monochromatic look using the Berry Red Paper Pack and the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

    I die cut the Torus Ring outline from white cardstock. Using the second small die in the Torus Ring set, I die cut various pieces of pink paper that I adhered behind the white frame. I adhered the entire Torus Ring to the card with 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. For the sentiment I used the Big Hugs Sugar Script die. I die cut the large base layer from white cardstock and the top layer from pink cardstock. I adhered both layers together with liquid glue and then adhered the entire sentiment to the card using 3M foam adhesive.

    I added the word “thank you” from the Ticker Tape stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in pink ink and fussy cut the block outline. I adhered this sentiment below the word “hello” with 3M foam adhesive.

    Hi there and Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother’s visiting here today. It’s Tracey and I am very excited to share a project using a couple of newly released products from Birch Press Design!

    The new Rainbow Days Lingo Notes stamp set was starting point for my card. I stamped the rainbow off the card on the left side with embossing ink and white heat embossed it.

    I stamped the rainbow on to a full adhesive Post-it Note and trimmed it use as a mask. I masked off the rainbow and then ink blended a sky with Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks. Once the blend was done I splattered some diluted white acrylic paint on to the panel. When that was dry I smooshed some Broken China Distress Oxide ink on to an acrylic block with a bit of water and then splattered that on to the panel.

    Once the mask was removed I coloured the bands of the rainbow using my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers blending the colours out with a water brush and set aside to dry.

    I blended a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock about the size of the butterfly in the Eloquent Butterly Layer die set. I blended on an angle a rainbow of Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks. I cut Layer C of the Elequent Butterfly from the ink blended panel. Then I cut Layer A of the Eloquent Butterfly from Vellum. Layer A has beautiful embossed details on it that look stunning on the vellum. It was glued to the centre of the Layer C ink blended butterfly and set aside.

    Now that all the pieces were completed I white embossed a sentiment from the Rainbow Days Lingo Notes stamp set on the top centre of the sky. Then the butterfly was attached to the end of the rainbow on a slight angle.

    The panel was attached to a white top folding card base with foam tape for some life and the final touch was to add to pearls to the body of the butterfly.

    This was such a fun card to make, a few different techniques with such a pretty end result.

    Hello friends and happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed a pleasant weekend and hopefully found a little time to do something crafty. This is Crystal Komara here with you today sharing two rainbow themed cards using a variety of products from Birch Press Design. I just love creating with rainbow colors because the end result is always happiness.

    For this first card, I used Layer A of the Lumina Layering Plates. I already had a pre-made rainbow colored alcohol ink background in my stash, so this card came together quite quickly. Gotta love that! I simply adhered the rainbow alcohol ink background to my card base – I use 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Then I die cut Layer A of the Lumina Layering Plates from white cardstock. I adhered the intricate die over the alcohol ink background.

    I die cut the word Hello using the Big Hello dies. I die cut the shadow background from black cardstock and the top thinner layer from white cardstock. I adhered both layers together with a Tombow Dot Runner and then I adhered both layers to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Using the Ticker Tape stamp set, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut the sentiment strip out. I adhered the sentiment below the “hello” dies using 3M foam adhesive.

    For this next card, I used the Linear Triangle die and lots of colored cardstock strips in various bright colors to keep in line with my rainbow theme.

    My card base is 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I also die cut the first 5 1/4″ x 4″ mat from white cardstock. I die cut the Linear Triangle from white cardstock and adhered thin strips of colored paper behind the lines. I placed the completed triangle in the lower righthand corner of my card. I die cut the large “thanks” die from black cardstock and from a piece of pre-made alcohol ink cardstock. I layered the two together with a Tombow Dot Runner and placed the large sentiment in the center of my card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Using the Ticker Tape stamp set, I stamped the sentiment “you inspired kindness” in Versamark ink on black cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I fussy cut this sentiment and adhered it below the large “thanks” using 3M foam adhesive.

    Hi Everyone! Renee from Delaney Jane Cards here today with a super fun project using the Crystal Lingo Stamp Set, Open Studio Watercolor Paper and some messy inky fun.

    Layering the Ink sprays I have in my stash with some stash shimmer powder created the perfect background to highlight this amazing stained glass-esque Crystal Lingo Stamp. It reminds me of stained glass so much, is that what you see?

    I wanted to leave this looking translucent but add color so I reinforced the colors in the geometric stamp with some Alcohol Markers.

    I used the Hello from the larger sentiments in the Crystal Lingo stamp set. I could have die cut it with the coordinating die but I chose to create a one layer panel. I paired it with a coordinating sentiment to frame in the beautiful geometric panel.

    Hello, friends! I’m so happy to be here today to show you how I made this card pairing the gorgeous Viola Layer Plates with stitched floral accents. This card represents everything I love about cardmaking: stitching on paper, die cutting, and simple coloring!

    I started my card by stamping this beautiful floral image from Memory Box’s All the Happiness stamp set onto 110# white cardstock. I then did some super simple copic coloring before using a piercing tool to poke holes along all of the stamped lines. I then used coordinating embroidery thread to do some simple backstitching along the image outlines. I added some floral sequins and yellow gems as well. Once this very easy and relaxing stitching was complete, I fussy cut the image (die cutting tends to smash the stitching) and set it aside.

    To create my background, I die cut layers A and B from the Viola layering dies from 80# white cardstock. I adhered them together and to a white card base using liquid adhesive. Using the same adhesive, I then adhered my floral image to the upper corner.

    To finish my card, I cut my sentiment from the “sending” and “love” sugar script dies three times from white 110# cardstock and once from gold mirror cardstock, layering them together with liquid adhesive for dimension. All there was left to do was adhere the sentiment to the card and this project was finished!

    Hello crafty readers! This is Crystal Komara here with you today sharing two elegant cards created by mixing products from sister companies Birch Press Design and Memory Box. As Design Team members for Birch Press Design, we are fortunate to receive some products from both companies and today I’m showing you how beautifully they compliment each together. Do YOU mix products when you create? I love to mix stamp sets, papers and dies because it allows for an infinite amount of ideas and is a great way to use more of what you own.

    Card details:

    The base of this A2 sized card was made using 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. I die cut the first layer from white cardstock using Layer Plate A of the Viola Layering Plate dies. I adhered this intricate layer directly to the card base. Using the All the Happiness stamp set from Memory Box, I stamped the flowers in Versamark ink on black cardstock and heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder. I die cut the flowers using the coordinating All the Happiness dies and adhered it to the lower right side of the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and fussy cut the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment to the top left of the flowers.

    Here is the second card that I made using the same products, but a slightly different color combination:

    Card details:

    The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ piece of black cardstock and adhered it directly to the card base. Using Layer Plate A of the Viola Layering Plates, I die cut this layer from white cardstock. I adhered this intricate layer directly over the black cardstock. Using the All the Happiness stamp set, I stamped the flowers in Versamark ink on gold foil paper. I heat embossed the image with black embossing powder and used the coordinating All the Happiness dies to die cut the flowers out. I adhered the flowers to the lower right side of the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and fussy cut the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment to the top left of the flowers.

    Hello Everyone and Welcome Back!

    The project I have for today features the Lotus die but the A layer only, some glitter paper and some super cool wood grain paper.

    I started by die cutting the Lotus Flower Layer A out of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of some wood grain paper as well as some glitter paper 6 x 6 glitter Holiday Glitter Pad. I know it isn’t anywhere near those normally sparkly holidays but this paper works any time of year!

    After I die cut the two pieces I ink blended over the wood grain flower with some light pink ink and some more intense pink ink. I wanted to add some softness and color to this gorgeous flower.

    I only used the outline from the glitter die cut. I layered it over the ink blended die cut image and inlaid it inside the original panel. What a beautiful way to finish a die cut design!

    I heat embossed my sentiment and mounted it center below my die cut image. I mounted everything on a top folding A2 card base.

    Hi there crafty friends, I’m back today with a landscape slimline card showcasing the fabulous Crystal Lingo stamp set and the beautiful Petal Egg Layer die set.

    The faceted rectangle from the Crystal Lingo stamp set was white heat embossed on to a 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I ink blended over the panel in a rainbow using Distress Oxide inks. The colours are Kitsch Flamingo, Carved Pumpkin, and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks and Mustard Seed, Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac Distress ink.

    The panel was trimmed down to 8 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ and it was attached to an 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ white card base with foam tape to add a bit of dimension.

    I wanted to use the pretty background along with the Petal Layers die set in a way that one wouldn’t overpower the other. I cut all three layers from heavyweight white cardstock. I adhered the layers together with liquid adhesive and once dry.

    I decided to use pinks and oranges as my egg colour from the background. You can place your egg anywhere on the card depending on the colours that appeal to you or your recipient. I chose to place the dimensional egg on a angle. I placed small pieces of foam tape behind the egg to pop it off the background.

    The sentiment from the Blooming Spring clear stamp set was heat embossed and trimmed down and added to he panel with foam tape.

    I love the idea of sending someone a landscape, slimline card. So easy to be displayed without tipping over.

    Happy Spring crafty friends! Today I’m creating two slimline cards using the Crystal Lingo Stamps and dies.

    The faceted rectangle stamp in the Crystal Lingo clear stamp set is the perfect size for 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ slimline cards.

    For both of the my cards today I started off by white heat embossing the faceted rectangle from Crystal Lingo on to two panels of watercolour cardstock cut to 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.

    TIP: When embossing on watercolour cardstock I always make sure I prep the paper well with my embossing buddy and I always double stamp my embossing ink.

    I laid down a combination of Distress Ink and Distress Oxide inks on to my craft mat in a staggered rainbow. I used Kitsch Flamingo, Carved Pumpkin, and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks and Mustard Seed, Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac Distress ink.

    I spritzed some water onto the mat and then put my panel facedown into the ink and picked it up right away. I did not smoosh the ink, just straight on and off. I dried the panel thoroughly and then went back to the mat and tapped the panel around putting on a second layer. I spritzed a bit of water on my panel where the Distress Inks were to disperse them a bit more.

    Once again I dried the panel thoroughly and went back to the mat one more time but before tapping down I spritzed the craft mat a bit more to reactivate the ink and did one final layer by tapping the panel on the craft mat. I stamped and die cut the Big Lingo Type Thanks die in white and black and attached it to the card with foam adhesive!

    The second panel was actually the first panel but a little bit of Frayed Burlap was all it took to muddy up my rainbow.

    Rather than toss it away I kind of liked the masculine vibe that the brown gave to the card. So I did the same as I did for the other card.

    I dried it and added more ink until I had three layers! I die cut the Big Lingo Type Thanks using only the detailed die three times for the sentiment. I adhered the three layers together to give the die cut some stability. Trust me this takes some patience–lol! I adhered the die cut directly to the card front.

    It’s so much fun to take an image like this, emboss it and then have some fun with your inks. This technique can be done with most inks and of course a little bit of water.

    Hello crafty friends! This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today sharing a beautiful Valentine’s Day card featuring the latest new release products from Birch Press Design. The focal point of this pink ombre card is the ink blended background peeking through the Kinsley Heart Layering Plate.

    On a 5 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Bristol smooth cardstock I ink blended Distress Oxide inks in the colors Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Candied Apple. I began with the lightest color (Spun Sugar) at the top of the cardstock and the richest color (Candied Apple) at the bottom.

    Using 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Crest cardstock, I die cut the top layer (Layer A) from the Kinsley Heart Plate.

    I placed this intricate heart layer directly over the ombre background adhering it with LineCo ph neutral bookbinding glue (my go-to liquid adhesive).

    Using the Lingo Thanks stamp set, I stamped the word “love” in Versamark ink on ballet pink cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the coordinating Lingo Thanks die set to cut it out. I also stamped the sentiment “you’re in my heart” in Versamark ink on fuschia pink cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder as well. I die cut one large white heart to serve as the center focal point of the card. I adhered the sentiments to the lower right corner of the heart using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a few iridescent sequins with glue dots to the card for added dimension and sparkle.
