    Hello Birch Press friends! I am excited to be back up on the blog today sharing a card using the beautiful Eloquent Butterfly layering die set! So let’s get started!

    I started by die cutting Layer A and C using white cardstock from the Eloquent Butterfly layering die set. I die cut Layer B using the Memory Box Glitzy Gltter Pad using a silver cardstock from the pad. I also die cut the antennae from the Butterfly Basics die set using the same silver cardstock. I wanted to distress the glitter cardstock a bit and added a distressed gold paper glaze to areas of silver glitter cardstock. I then adhered the layers of the butterfly together using liquid glue.

    Next I started to work on the background for my card using the Marvelous Magnolia 3D embossing folder from Memory Box. I dry embossed a gelli print from my stash. Once the florals were embossed I used some oil pastels on the flowers, leaves, and stems to add color to the embossed background.

    I also added the same paper glaze from the butterfly onto areas of the leaves. I allowed the panel to completely dry, then trimmed the panel using my paper trimmer. I then adhered the floral background onto an A2 card panel.

    Next I adhered the butterfly using liquid glue. I chose a sentiment from my stash to complete my card. I added a few purple gemstones from the Autumn Fairy Jewels collection. I had fun creating today’s card and I will be back soon!

    Hello, Birch Press friends! Today, I am sharing this beautiful holiday card featuring the new Splendid Poinsettia Contour Layers Set. This set makes such a unique poinsettia, and I knew that I wanted to make a green one to make it even more unique.

    I started my card by embossing a light blue piece of card stock with the Gracious Floral 3D Embossing Folder. I then took a brayer and some blue ink and ran the brayer over the embossed, raised edges of the floral design. I took the same ink and blended around the edges of my panel. I finished the panel by inking up the corners in an even darker blue ink.

    There are two dies in the Splendid Poinsettia Contour Layers Set. I used one to cut some light green card stock, and the other one (which cuts the bottom pieces) to cut a darker shade of green card stock. I glued the lighter pieces on top of the darker pieces, and then I took a blending tool and inked up the edges with green ink. This just gives the edges a little bit of definition when layering. For the leaves, I only used the bottom pieces, and I ink blended those with a dark green ink. I glued the poinsettia layers onto my panel, right where the large flower is in the Gracious Floral design, making sure to only glue the center. I then tucked the leaves underneath. I also tucked some berries in the design – these come from Layer A of the Forest Canopy Layer Set.

    Before adding a sentiment, I splattered everything with some white acrylic paint. Once that was dry, I could add my sentiment and finish the card. I chose the new Holiday Hugs Vintage Sentiment. I cut the shadow from white card stock and the detail layer from red card stock. For a final touch, I scattered some clear Fairy Drops around the design.

    Hello friends! This is DT member Crystal Komara here with you today with what just might be my new favorite card ever that I’ve designed for Birch Press Design. Now, I’ll admit, I was initially hesitant to use the contour dies, becuase oh-so-much die cutting, but I promise, the end result is always SOOooo worth the work!!

    Card details:

    The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cu ta 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of black cardstock and dry embossed it using the Blooming 3D Embossing Folder from Memory Box Co, a sister company of Birch Press Design. This is my go-to floral embossing folder, it’s so elegant.

    Then I just began die cutting lots and lots of the Oval Leaves contour dies in yellow, orange and gold cardstock. I mismatched up the layers, so that I layered yellow with orange and rust with gold. There was no method to this matching up madness.

    Lastly, I flicked some gold acrylic paint onto the entire image and I love how this effect came out! It added a bit of grunge, but also a bit of sparkle!

    I love this card so much that I want to try re-creating it in other color palettes too, so be sure to check back in regularly to see what myself and the rest of the Design Team are creating to inspire you!

    Hello Crafty Friends! It is Natasha here today and I am excited to be back on the blog today! Today I am sharing the beautiful new Adornment Wreath die set! So let’s get started!

    I love this gorgeous wreath and wanted to create a card using the wreath as my focal image. I started by die cutting the Adornment Wreath. I die cut the base layer 2 times using white card stock and the top layer 2 times as well. Once these were die cut, I adhered them together using liquid glue. I set the wreath aside to work on my background.

    For my background I chose a gelli print from my stash. I chose a background with beautiful pops of color to compliment the white wreath. I then ran the background through my die cutting machine with the Ringadings embossing folder from Memory Box.

    Next I added some distressing to my dry embossed background, using both distress crayons, as well as paper glaze. I love the added shine and sparkle from the Gold paper glaze.

    I then added some black splatters to the background and set it aside to dry. Once it was dry I trimmed the panel and distressed the edges using my distressing tool. I then added some Black Soot distress ink to the edges of the panel. I adhered the panel to my A2 card base.

    I completed my card by adhering the wreath to my card front using liquid glue. I chose a sentiment strip from my stash and adhered this with foam tape.

    Hello Birch Press friends, it is Natasha here and I am excited to be back with you today! Today I created a fall thank you card using the new Oak Leaf die set. I am a summer girl at heart, however I do love the colors of Fall! So let’s get started!

    I started by creating 2 panels using mixed media paper and my Distress Mica Stains. I chose 3 colors to use today to create the panels. The panels will be used to die cut my leaves. I spritzed the colors onto my paper one at a time, heat set them with my heat tool, added water droplets, and picked up the color with a paper towel. I continued this process until I had the colors and texture I was looking for. I set the panels aside to completely dry as I worked on my background.

    Next I chose a piece of kraft paper from my stash and dry embossed the panel using the Memory Box Geometric Crystals embossing folder. I then used a sanding tool to distress the dry embossed panel in various sections. To add a bit more texture and dimension to the panel I applied Distress Oxide inks to the panel in 3 of the corners.

    Next I trimmed the panel using my Deckle Trimmer and distressed the edges using Distress Ink. I added splatters to the panel using black and gold splatter. I set the panel aside to completely dry.

    Next I took my 2 panels I created using the Distress Mica Stains and die cut 2 leaves using the new Oak Leaf Die set. I also die cut the top layer using white card stock. I then ink blended the top layer of the leaves using oxides and once dry added Foundry Wax for added shine. I then adhered both layers of the leaves together using liquid adhesive.

    To complete my card, I adhered the dry embossed panel onto an A2 card base using liquid adhesive. I adhered the leaves with foam tape. I chose the sentiment from Handwritten Thanks and Outline die set. I die cut the script Thanks 3 times, using black card stock, as well as from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad. I adhered the layers together using liquid glue and added this to my card front. I chose a sub sentiment from my stash and completed the card with a few gems from Autumn Fairy Jewels.     Hello Birch Press Friends, I am excited to be back on the blog today sharing a mixed media tag using 2 new dies from the latest collection: Oval Leaf Branches Contour Layers and Budding Twigs Contour Layers. So let’s get started!

    I started by die cutting the branches and twigs from the Oval Leaf Branches Contour Layers and Budding Twigs Contour Layers die sets. I die cut them from 2 shades of cardstock from the Stormy Blue and Fresh Aqua collection from the Memory Box paper pads. Once all the layers were die cut I added a bit of color to each layer using distress oxides. I then spritzed them with water and used a paper towel to pick up some of the color.

    Next I added embossing powder to all the die cuts. I applied embossing ink, then powder, and heat set them with my heat tool. I did wipe off some of the powder before heat setting them for a distressed look. I set the die cuts aside to work on my background.

    For the background I chose a gelli print from my stash and trimmed it into a tag. Next I ran the tag through my die cutting machine with the Ringadings 3D embossing folder. I then applied dye ink to one side of the folder and ran it through the machine again. Next I added embossing ink to the folder and ran it through one more time. I then added a gold embossing powder to some sections of the background and heat set it with my heat tool.

    Next I inked up the edges of the tag as well as some areas on the top of the tag with distress ink. I then determined the placement for the branches and the twigs. I adhered them with liquid glue and foam tape.

    Next I stamped the sentiment from the Gracious Floral stamp and die set. I completed the tag with a bit of cheesecloth and twine at the top of the tag. I adhered the sentiment with foam tape to complete the tag.

    HI friends! Today I’m going to share an easy way to add color to your embossed images using the new Gracious Floral Embossing Folder, Stencil, Stamp, and die set by Memory Box. This set coordinates together to help you create TONS of unique cards! I’ve linked the Supply List at the end of my post if you’d like to purchase any of the items (and I think you will want this set!!!)

    First step was to create a colorful background to the embossed Gracious Florals. I applied shades of brown ink directly onto the flat side of the Gracious Florals embossing folder using my mini brayer. The brayer creates a unique pattern, and I change directions with it to get an even more playful, mixed media look (see the photo below). If you don’t have a brayer, use your ink pads directly onto the embossing folder and change directions with the ink pad. You’ll get a similar look!

    Once I inked up the embossing folder, I added a white piece of heavy duty cardstock inside the embossing folder, closed it, and ran it through my die cut machine per the usual method of dry embossing. I was left with this awesome colorful background, but the flowers remained white!

    Next, I stenciled the flowers using the coordinating stencil set from Gracious Florals.

    The flowers are bold and absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! The stamp set comes with the outline image of these flowers so you colorists will have a great time coloring the image! Getting back to my stenciling, I stenciled the layers using coral shades for the florals because they looked bold against the brown background. Then I stenciled the leaves in green and added gold embossing powder to the stamin for a touch of shine. I also added metallic gold splatters over the entire card panel for even more shine! Then I die cut the card panel using my deckled paper trimmer, added brown ink to the edges of the panel, and adhered it over a white 5.5×4.25 card base.

    The last step was to add the sentiment from the Gracious Floral stamp. The sentiments are bold and amazing, and I love how the die cuts right around the wording! I kept the sentiment simple in black and white so that the floral remained the focal point.

    I love how the brown background seemed to surround and embrace the florals! I hope you enjoyed today’s post and thank you for visiting me!

    Hello, Birch Press friends. Today, I am sharing this vibrant card using the new Large Cosmos Contour Layers set. Since tomorrow is the 4th of July, I decided to use red, white and blue! I am also using the brand new Gracious Floral 3D embossing folder for the background.

    I started out by embossing an A2 sized panel of light blue card stock with the Gracious Floral Embossing Folder. After taking the card stock out of the folder, I ran my white pigment ink pad over the embossed edges of the floral design. I then took a couple shades of darker blue ink and blended the edges of my card panel. This creates a glow effect in the middle.

    There is one die that cuts the larger petals for the Cosmos. I cut that from two different shades of red card stock and used one petal from each shade. So, one of those bottom layers is slightly darker than the other. I cut the smaller petals from a lighter shade of red. For all the petals, I inked up the edges with some dark red ink, and even a little bit of black ink for the darker petals. I cut the smallest die from white card stock – that cuts the two small pieces in the center. I ink blended the edges of the white piece with some red ink, and I ink blended the very center yellow. After glueing all the pieces together, I splattered it with white acrylic paint. I then adhered it to my panel over the large embossed flower from the Gracious Floral design.

    I hot foiled my sentiment onto black card stock with white opaque foil. You can’t even tell that it’s foil – it just looks perfectly smooth. The sentiment comes from the Sugar Scripts Sentiment 1 Hot Foil Plate set. I finished my design by scattering my favorite embellishment – clear fairy drops.

    Hello Birch Press friends, it is Natasha here and I am back today sharing ideas on how to create a mixed media card using your dies! For today’s card I am using 2 new dies: Large Cosmos Contour Layers and Curved Leaf Branch Contour Layers. Let’s get started!

    I started by die cutting the Large Cosmos Contour Layers die using the Vibrant Violet paper pad from Memory Box. I chose 2 shades of card stock from the paper pad. Once the floral was die cut, I added dye inks to the floral for added dimension. I then spritzed the floral layers with water droplets and picked up the color with a paper towel. I then adhered the floral together using liquid glue. For the center of the floral I chose a gold card stock from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad. I adhered this to the center of the floral and set this aside.

    Next I started to die cut the Curved Leaf Branch Contour Layers die. I chose 2 shades of blue card stock from the Fresh Aqua paper pad from Memory Box. Once the leaf was die cut, I added 2 shades of dye ink to the leaf image. I added water droplets as well and picked up the color with paper towel. Once dry, I adhered the leaf layers together. I then added brown distress ink to the leaf edges for added texture.

    Once the flower and leaf image was complete, I started to work on my background. I chose a gelli print from my stash with similar colors. I then dry embossed the background using the Ringadings 3D embossing folder. I added a bit more texture to the folder using dye ink in a dark grey on some areas of of the raised circles, as well as a blue glaze, and foundry wax. I allowed everything to dry, once the background was dry I added a few splatters to the background.

    Next I added 2 pieces of pattern paper from the Magnolia Grove paper pack. I chose 2 colors to coordinate with my card design and tore the strips for a distressed look. I then adhered the card panel, strips of paper, leaf and floral to my A2 card base.

    To complete my card I chose the Big Hugs Sugar Script die. I die cut the hugs sentimnent 3 times out of black card stock. I then adhered each layer together using liquid glue. I added a bit of foam tape behind the hugs sentiment for added dimension.

    I hope today’s card inspires you to use your dies to create a mixed media style card!

    Hello Birch Press friends, it is Natasha here today and I am excited to be up on the blog today! Today I am sharing a colorful card using the new Gracious Floral 3D embossing folder! This card was so much fun to create, using inks, stencils, and sprays, so let’s get started!

    For today’s card I started with a piece of Canson Watercolor card stock. I started by adding Lindy’s sprays to the card panel background. When working with sprays, I add color to the paper, allow the panel to dry, spritz with water, then pick up the color with a paper towel. I continue this process for the background until I have the colors/textures I am looking for. Once the panel was completely dry, I ran the panel through my die cutting machine with the new Gracious Floral 3d Embossing folder by Memory Box. I love the detail in this folder. Next I added color to the floral and leaves using the coordinating stencil.

    The stencil for this set is so amazing and truly so easy to use. The set comes with a coordinating guide telling you the stencil to use for each layer. I continued to add layers of color to my flower using the layering stencil using dye inks from my stash. Once the layers were complete, I spritzed the panel with water and picked up some more color using a paper towel. I love this step, as it adds more dimension to my images.

    Next I added splatters to the card panel using my dye inks, as well as white splatters. I allowed the panel to completely dry, then I die cut the panel using my deckle edge trimmer. I then distressed the edges a bit more using my distress tool. Next I darkened the edges using distress ink and then adhered the panel to an A2 card base. I completed my card with a sentiment from the Gracious Floral stamp and die set.
