  • A Sparkly Merry Christmas | By Natasha Vacca

    Hello friends! I am excited to be back on the blog today to share a sparkly Merry Christmas design with you! Today’s card uses several new products from Birch Press Designs latest release! I had a lot of fun, so let’s get started!

    I started with a pre-made background for today’s card. I liked the subtle layer of pink and was excited to pair this with blues, white, and lots of sparkle! I started by die cutting the Meridian Ornament Layers set using white card stock, as well as the Festive Glitter paper pad set. I cut layer A and C using white card stock, then layer B was die cut using the Festive Glitter pad. Once these were die cut, I adhered these together using liquid glue. For the ornament topper, I used the Christmas Ornament Pop Up Easel die set. I die cut the topper with white card stock, then added sparkle using embossing powder. I adhered this to the top, then set the ornament aside.

    Next I knew I wanted to create a bit of dimension behind my ornament for added texture and interest. I used 2 die sets, Eucalyptus Stems and Berries Contour Layers and Fuddled Leaf Branches Contour Layers. I die cut several of each of these using the Stormy Blue paper pad from Memory Box. Once they were die cut, I added a bit of oxide ink to the fuddled leaves, as well as some embossing powder for added texture. On the berries I die cut an extra set of the berries and added embossing powder as well. I then adhered the top layer of the berries onto the stems.

    Next I die cut a few snowflakes using the Felicity Snowflakes die set using the Festive Glitter pad. I used the same color of glitter card stock as I used in my ornament. I then die cut my sentiment using the Handwritten Merry Christmas die set. I die cut the shadow layer using vellum and then the Handwritten sentiment using 2 paper pads: Vintage pastel Mirror Pad and the Festive Glitter Pad. I adhered these together using liquid glue.

    Next I trimmed down my pink background panel and added a bit of embossing powder to the edges. I then added a bit of ink to darken the edges a bit to add a vintage look. I then prepared all my die cuts by adding foam tape for added dimension. I then adhered these down to my card panel using a combination of adhesive (liquid glue and foam tape). I added my sentiment to the ornament to complete my card!

    Happy Friday! April here sharing an elegant, easy to pull together thank you card.

    To start this card I grabbed on of my favorites, the Kinsley Heart Plate Layering set. I cut out all three layers with Layer A and C cut from white cardstock, and Layer I glued all three layers together using liquid glue.

    I created an A2 card base from a piece of red cardstock, and glued the Kinsley Heart layer onto the card front. This is why the inside of the heart is red — the base is shining through.

    Next, I took the Pimpernel Contour layering set to cut the flowers from red, foil cardstock and the leaves from green, glitter cardstock. I adhered them to the lower right of the card front, ensuring I glued the center of the flowers only, to leave the petals free to bend up a little bit.

    For the sentiment, I used the Kind Hearts Clear Stamp set to heat emboss ‘thank you’ with black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I cut this out and glued it to the center of the card front.

    Lastly, I added a couple of clear dots from the Christmas Fairy Crystals set to the center of the flowers

    That is it! The layering sets make it super easy and fun to pull together cards. I hope this inspires you to go create and have fun

    Hello Birch Press Design readers! This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today sharing a slimline card made using the Butterfly Basics die set. I have owned this beautiful die set for a while and for as much as I love butterflies, I can’t believe I hadn’t used it yet! So, while there is a whole new gorgeous release of products (to include foils!) from Birch Press Design, today I’m going back to the (butterfly) basics.

    Card details:

    The base of this slimline card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. This slimline card measures 8 1/2′ x 3 1/2′ and will fit inside a regular #10 business sized envelope and, as such, requires no additional postage. I used a slimline die to create the first matted background.

    Using the Butterfly Basics die, I cut the large open base frame from solid cardstock. I used four primary colors (pink, blue, yellow and green). I used the following pads of cardstock:

    Lush Green

    Fresh Aqua

    Berry Red

    Sunny Orange

    I die cut the middle portion of the butterfly from glitter cardstock. I used the Glitzy Glitter 6 x 6″ pad.

    I adhered the butterfly basic together with LineCo ph neutral bookbinding glue. This is my favorite liquid adhesive and it works well when holding glitter cardstock to other paper. I die cut the butterfly bodies from black cardstock. After adhering all the individual butterflies together, I adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.

    I really like the bold and bright colors of these butterflies. Due to their slightly larger dimension size, I felt like putting them on a slimline card would showcase more colors. I hope you like today’s fun card! Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

    Hello, everyone! Toni here with you today sharing a card that turned out amazing but was a lot more time-consuming than I had anticipated. Of course, it’s after the fact that I think of ways to make it easier!

    I wanted to use one of the fabulous BPD mandalas, Arista in this case, over the entire card BUT without adding the bulkiness of layering each mandala on top of the other. This meant I needed to cut the mandalas so they could nest.

    I worked up each mandala first using a combination of foil, Memory Box Pastel Glitter Cardstock and Memory Box Lush Green, Vibrant Violet, and Ocean Blue 6×6 Cardstock. Once I had my layout planned-ish, I adhere first the blue one to my card base followed by the others, diecutting with a circle die from my stash and/or fussy cutting them to nest into each other.

    I could have made it a lot easier on myself doing this with the first layer (foil) to figure out the nesting cuts then once that was done, I could have adhered the other layers down and trimmed away the excess quite easily. Ah, well, lesson so so learned!

    I finished up the card by adding the Sugar Script Big Hugs and the Happy Lingo sentiment stamped in Versafine Clair Twilight. A LOT of work but well worth it!

    Happy Monday, crafty friends! Dee here today sharing this fresh floral card featuring the Star Flowers dies from the latest Floral Contour Layers collection! 

    I started by cutting Layer A, B, and C of the Petal Triangle dies twice, then adhered them (mirrored) onto a piece of white cardstock that I cut down to 5.5” x 4.25”.

    Next, I cut layers A, B, and C of the Tranquility Layer die (saving the center circle for a future project, then adhered it to the center of the two triangles. 

    I cut the Star Flowers Contour Layer dies twice in yellow cardstock and once in coral. I layered each flower then adhered them together and onto the Tranquility frame. Next, I die-cut leaves from the Dainty Rose and Leaves dies set in shades of teal then adhered them tucked behind the flowers. 

    For the sentiment, I die cut the Handwritten Hugs in gold glitter cardstock and adhered it to the card with foam tape. As a finishing touch, I added embellishments in coordinating colors to the center of each flower!

    Hello crafty readers! This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today. Today I’m sharing two cards made using my favorite spring themed die from Birch Press Design called the Petal Egg Layer Set. There are just so many color combinations that could be used to create the perfect Easter card using these beautiful layering dies.

    Card details:

    The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using Layer Plate C of the Butterfly Garden Layering Plate, I die cut the first layer from white cardstock. I saved some of the extra butterflies off to the side (to use as added 3D pieces at the end). Using the Petal Egg Layering Set, I die cut Layer B from purple glitter cardstock (from the Twinkling Jewel 6 x 6″ glitter pad) and Layer A from white cardstock. I created a background using blue and purple alcohol inks on Yupo paper. Once this dried, I fussy cut the shape of the egg to fit it behind the egg as the third or base layer.

    I stamped the sentiment “thinking of you” from the Contempo Greetings stamp set in Versamark ink on a piece of purple Vibrant Violet cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and then used the coordinating Contempo Greetings die to die cut it out. I adhered the greeting to the front of the egg using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a couple white butterflies (from the background) to add more texture.

    I created a second card using the same instructions (as above), but I simply changed out the background mat to a purple cardstock from the Vibrant Violet paper pack.

    Welcome back everyone, and happy Saturday! April here sharing a card in support of #cardsforUkraine.

    This card features the Field of Blooms layering plate set alongside the beautiful, new Memory Box Rainbow Reflections 6×6 mirror cardstock pad.

    I started with the Field of Blooms plate Layer A and cut it from heavyweight white cardstock. I then cut Layer B from a bright blue piece of mirror or foil cardstock I pulled from the Memory Box Rainbow Reflections 6×6 mirror cardstock pack.

    Next, I cut die cut Layer C from a piece of yellow cardstock pulled from the Memory Box Sunny Orange 6×6 cardstock pack.

    I wanted something bright to show through the bottom of all of the layers so the most bottom layer of the card is a piece of blue glitter cardstock I pulled from the Memory Box Twinkling Jewel 6×6 Glitter Pad. I cut the 6×6 piece of cardstock down to A2 size (4.25″ x 5.5″).

    I then adhered Layer C (the die cut yellow piece) to the blue glitter cardstock using doublesided tape since I find this works well on a glitter surface.

    I then used liquid glue to adhere the other two layers (A and B) on top of Layer C, and glued the entire sandwich onto an A2 cardfront created from heavyweight cardstock. In the end I ended up with a nice sandwich made up of four layers: White cardstock (top layer), Mirror cardstock, Yellow cardstock, Glitter cardstock (bottom layer).

    I used the Big Hugs Sugar Script dies for my sentiment, cutting the shadow from the same blue mirror cardstock, and the sentiment from heavyweight white cardstock that I layered a few times.

    Lastly, I used silver jewels from the Memory Box Christams Fairy Jewels set to add some sparkle to each little leaf/swirl impression on the front of the card.

    Hello, everyone! Toni here with you today. I was so excited to play with the products in the latest release. I am in love and have so many ideas in my head using them!

    I started today’s card by diecutting the Fuddled Leaf Branches Contour Layers as well as the Winsome Rose & Leaves Contour Layers. I used papers from the MB Vintage Pastel Mirror and Lush Green 6×6 Pads. That pastel mirror/pearlescent paper is to die for!

    I noticed the Fuddled Leaf Branches negative diecut would make an awesome stencil so I used it with Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn on the card base then started playing around with the layout of the blooms and stems.

    I wanted a really full look so I added diecuts of Tiny Tuft Flowers & Leaves Contour Layers, Eucalyptus Stem & Berries Contour Layers and the Dainty Rose & Leave Contour Layers. I used more of the Vintage Pastel Mirror and Lush Green papers, adding a bit of Festive Glitter to boot.

    For the sentiment I used the Big Hello Sugar Script layered dies. I tied it all together using a few black Fairy Jewels.

    Hello, Birch Press fans! Toni here with you today sharing a fun birthday card.

    I used the Flora Plate Layer C to impress the card front. I trimmed that down a touch and adhered it to the card base.

    The impression is subtle enough not to compete with the diecuts but really adds a little more visual interest. I trimmed the panel a touch to expose the plain white card.

    Next I cut out the Floral Balloon, using them as single layers (they’re gorgeous stacked, I assure you!) as well as the Sugar Script Let’s Party out of Memory Box Glitzy Glitter 6×6 Paper.

    This is a really simple design suitable for all ages and all genders. Plus, there’s so much glittah!

    Hello crafty friends and Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you love or hate the holiday, it is still a great reason to make cards (and eat chocolate, of course)! This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today sharing an elegant and more traditional card using the beautiful new Adornment Peony dies.

    Card details:

    The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Pinpoint Radial Layer Plate, I die cut that first embossed layer from white cardstock. To create the peonies, I die cut the solid base layer from red cardstock (6″ x 6″ Berry Paper pack) and the top thin outline layer from red foil cardstock (from the Polished Foil Paper Pack). I die cut the solid base layer of the leaves from light green cardstock and the top thin outline layer from darker green cardstock. I used the 6″ x 6″ Lush Green Paper pack. I adhered all the layers together with a fine tip liquid glue.

    I die cut the word “hugs” using the Hugs Honey Script dies. I cut the larger shadow bottom layer from black cardstock and top thinner outline from gold glitter cardstock. I adhered both layers together with a fine tip liquid glue and then adhered the entire sentiment over the peonies using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.

    Lastly, I added a couple iridescent round stones for added texture.

    I love, love, loooooove how this beautiful card came out and I think I’m going to try it in a few more colors (like yellow and pink) now too! Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!
