My Kitchen’s New Addition!

Raise your hand if you like cooking. Now raise your hand if you have countless recipes written down that you have no idea what to do with. That’s me! And clutter and I don’t get along.

That’s why I’ve recently organized all of my favorite recipes into Birch Press Designs new tin recipe card boxes.

Not only do we have the tin boxes, but the cards as well. Aren’t the designs just too cute?! It’s the little things in life that make me happy!

I recently had some girlfriends over the other day for some drinks. Not only did they point out the beautiful new addition to my kitchen, but they were on their phones the next second looking them up online, deciding which one they would buy!

And when my sister asked me for grandma’s sugar cookie recipe, I was able to find it in no time. No time at all! Okay, I get pretty excited over organization and it’s a little weird, I know. But how can you not have a little thrill when the clutter is no more and you now have a super adorable accessory added to your kitchen counter?!

You have no idea how happy I am… well maybe you do. It looks like my job here is done, time to see what else there is to get done around the house!

Sounds like a Plan-ner!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed as I am getting older, my days are getting busier and busier.

And don’t get me wrong, I love being busy and having things to do, but sometimes I get too overwhelmed with appointments, meetings, and assignments. I sometimes forget important dates like birthdays and anniversaries. I barely have time to cook meals so all of my recipes are geared towards saving time!

So I decided to take control of my crazy days, and organize them! I found the perfect planner at Birch Press Design that will help me keep track of everything!

This 17-month weekly planner has sections for celebrations, notes, and contacts which makes it the ideal planner for me. Not to mention it’s super cute- I love the floral print on the front! My favorite part of the planner is the inspirational quotes on every page!

I can’t wait to sit down with some iced tea popsicles and write everything down so I can be ready for the upcoming school year. No longer will I forget my auntie’s birthday, or spend time searching for my grandmothers address when I am sending her a thank you card.

Stop and Enjoy the Eggs

When I wake up on a weekday morning, I am usually rushing around the house to make sure that I make it to work on time.

Throughout the years I have gotten used to starting my mornings off in a stressful, rushed way. And often, its a bowl of oatmeal or something quick for breakfast to power me on my way.

But when I have a rare day where stressful feelings are replaced with relaxation and I have nowhere to rush off to, I take this opportunity to spoil myself with a big breakfast! I always wake up hungry and since I have time to eat more than just a slice of toast, I can actually cook, sit, and relax.

Birch Press now sells egg cups that work wonderfully for these lazy days. You can set your soft boiled egg into the cup so that the rest of your plate can be filled with pancakes, bacon, fruit, and really anything you can set your mind to!

The egg cups look great on the table- the graphic design on the sides feels modern and lively. This simple container can really add a nice touch to your first meal of the day!

There’s nothing I love more than relaxing with a cooked meal and a cup of coffee. Lately I’ve been loving my dot espresso cups from Birch Press! The pop of color on the bottom adds some liveliness to my kitchen!

Age Appropriate Birthday Wishes

Whenever its someones birthday, you always give them the classic ‘happy birthday’. So you’d think that for birthday parties, you just need a card that says ‘Happy Birthday’ and that’s it, you’re done shopping! Wrong.

With a Birthday card, depending on their age, you don’t want to make them feel too young if they’re a child who just hit their ‘tweens’ and you don’t want to make them feel too old if they’re just turning 60 but still has a young spirit!

Give Thanks

This is your year, the year your child is graduating from high school and moving on to the next stage of their life…College!

This time of the year can be very emotional and exciting at the same time. Your son/daughter is graduating and moving on to big things. You two have been on this journey together since day one. Whether it be college, trade school, work, or travel, it is a thrilling time in ones life. We’re here to make things easy for you!

You know that they are maybe a tad upset to leave home but also very excited. They don’t know that you’re having the same exact feelings!

But before sending them on their way, you need to get them through their going away party. After the excitement and celebration, it is time to dash off a few thank you cards.

Sweet or Savory, More or Less

Farmhouse Retreat

The country inspiration for this collection is easy to see – I can imagine waking up in a classic country farmhouse, watching the sun rise over a pastoral countryside. Snuggling down into the striped linens of this collection with a cup of coffee would be such a treat!

The farmhouse bedding collection can be dressed up just as much as it can be dressed down, which can be a versatile look for a bedroom. Want to use this in a guest room? Strawberry Dream

In the summer time, a great family tradition is having an ice cream night. We get out our lovely homemade bowls and set up a lovely scene outside to sit and enjoy with friends and family. Almost any person on this planet enjoys ice cream. Whatever type of sweets you’re into there an ice cream flavor to go along with that dessert. Of course everyone has there favorite specialty ice cream but, what if you’re having a lot of people over like my family ice cream tradition? That is when the classic flavors come out. With their sweet but subtle taste it can be created into anyone’s favorite creation with toppings! I make an ice cream recipe that is classic and will please everyone! This recipe will make about a quart which is the perfect size for having a few friends over for a bbq or maybe even a summer picnic.

Quick Strawberry Honey Ice Cream

You’ll Need:

Ice cream maker

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

A pinch of kosher salt

2 cups of heavy cream

1 cup of whole milk

1/4 cup of honey

1 1/2 cups of crushed strawberries

Directions:

1. Toss the honey, sugar, and strawberries together into a bowl and let sit for 30 minutes.

2. Bring to a boil the cream, milk, and salt in medium sauce pan. Remove from heat and let cool for thirty minutes. Transfer to a glass bowl and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.

3. Stir the berry mixture into the cream mixture and pour into your ice cream maker. Follow instructions to process into ice cream.

That’s all and you’ve made yourself homemade ice cream! Now that you have the ice cream down don’t forget to make time for the decorations! Our handmade ice cream bowls are perfect for this treat with there shape and fridge friendly material! Since the bowl does not have a perfect round shape that makes it easy to stick lots of containers all in one place!

For those picky individuals in your life who don’t necessarily like strawberries make the recipe and reserve the strawberries as a topping. This honey vanilla ice cream is sure to please and let you make your own flavor combination.
