String Art Circle Three Ways | By Renee Moran

Hi Everyone, It’s Renee’ from Delaney Jane Cards here. I had the opportunity to play with the String Art Circle Collage die and created 3 different cards showing just a couple ways you can use this really fun die.

The first card I created was simply die cut from a piece of deep blue cardstock from the Ocean Blue 6×6 Paper Pad. I ink blended a couple of oxide inks over the top to give the front panel an ombre look.

To further the ombre feel I added fairy jewels to the larger openings in three different shades of blue, using both the pastel and brights Fairy Jewels. And I stamped the simple sentiment Hello in the center of the center circle from the Rainbow Days Lingo Notes Stamp Set. I adhered down that inner rim of the circle and popped the panel up with foam adhesive to create some cool dimension.

Cards two and three were created at the same time but look drastically different. I used the negative cuts from the String Art Circle Collage die to create this card here, featuring the Proud of You sentiment from that same Rainbow Days Lingo Notes stamp and die set. I added foam adhesive to the larger of the shapes, so the outer three rows. The inner two rows were adhered directly to the card front as was the center circle.

This created a super cool textural feel to this very sleek card.

Card three was created from a deep toned rainbow blended panel. I cut two additional panels with the String Art Circle Collage die cut in the same exact position so I could stack them for a bit of dimension. I splattered the background with shimmer spray and some plain water drops.

I stamped a sub-sentiment below the die cut window I created with the String Art Circle Collage die. A stamped and die cut a main sentiment on white cardstock was layered and adhered to the center of the design, both featuring the Rainbow Days Lingo Notes Stamp and Die set.

Sending Rainbow Wishes | By Amanda Wilcox

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s Amanda from Twiddler’s Nook popping in today. I hope your day is starting off splendidly! I have been itching to watercolor this gorgeous rainbow image since it released and I finally made it happen.

To create my card today, I started by pulling my stamps out and playing around with images and sentiments. I found that the rainbow and clouds from Rainbow Days Lingo Notes worked fabulous with the extra large sentiments in the Happy Lingo set!

I stamped and heat embossed the images on Bristol smooth cardstock with clear embossing powder. Then I watercolored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush pen.

I used the coordinating dies to cut the images out and moved on to my background. For that I blended distress oxide ink in tumbled glass and mermaid lagoon on a white panel. I spritzed it with water and flicked some pearl watercolor on it.

When I ink blend I tend to use a larger panel so I can choose how to cut it down. After everything was dry, I trimmed it down to A2 size and adhered it to a white card base.

I added foam squares to the back of my rainbow and some clouds and adhered them to the background. Then I added the HUGS sentiment the same way. I adhered the clouds in the background with liquid glue next.

At that point I thought there was something missing so I took a look at the sentiments in the Rainbow Days Lingo Notes and was so excited to see “sending rainbow wishes!” I stamped and heat embossed it on a strip of black cardstock and adhered it with a foam strip.

I love adding general purpose cards to my stash and this one will be amazing for a huge variety of occasions, or just because, which is my very favorite to send!

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

Sending Rainbow Wishes | by Crystal Komara

Hello crafty readers! This is Crystal here with you today sharing a colorful card using the Dahlia Heart Layering Dies and some fun rainbow colored paper.

    Card details:

The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. For the first 5 1/4″ x 4″ paper, I dry embossed a piece of white cardstock using a basket weave embossing folder. I adhered this embossed paper directly to the card base.

To create the two hearts, I die cut Layer A (the top layer) of the Dahlia Heart Layering Dies from white cardstock. I die cut two of these pieces as I have two hearts. I layered the Dahlia Heart outline over some scrap pieces of rainbow paper and fussy cut around the hearts:

I adhered the two hearts to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment “sending rainbow wishes” in Tuxedo Memento Black ink. This sentiment is from the Rainbow Days Lingo stamp set. I adhered the sentiment to the front of both heart using a Tombow adhesive runner.

I hope you have enjoyed this cheerful card. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

  • Eclipse / Inlay Tranquility | By Renee Moran

Eclipse / Inlay Tranquility | By Renee Moran

Hi Everyone, It’s Renee’ from Delaney Jane Cards here with a different take on the eclipse technique. Many times we see it done with words but I thought I could achieve something similar with the beautiful Tranquility Layering Dies and Handwritten Thanks. When I’m feeling stuck I often try to use a favorite technique or product in a new way.

Today that technique was similar to the Eclipse technique but could also qualify as Inlay. These layering dies, they create so much opportunity for experimenting and stretching not only your supplies but skills as well!

For this card I ink blended an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock using the Kitch Flamingo and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Colors. Then I trimmed this into two separate panels.

I die cut the Handwritten Thanks die from the panel where I wanted it to be on the finished card.

I removed the die cut and placed the tranquility Layer A from the same piece of cardstock where the final piece will be on that card panel.

This cut the place holder for the finished layered tranquility layered die set. I die cut each of the layers from both black and a coordinating cardstock. Layer C from yellow and Layer B from Pink.

I die cut the shadow layer from the Handwritten Thanks from black cardstock when I did all my die cutting. After I had all my layers, I adhered each layer to a coordinating black piece of cardstock. This will create additional drama in the final die cut design. These layers will not only add additional depth but by using black it will add a visual outline for each layer as it is viewed from the side.

By cutting the top layer, Layer A, from that initial panel, this creates the basic eclipse pattern. If I had simply stacked black die cuts under the top layer and then put it back exactly where I die cut it from, I’d have created an eclipse design. By putting the entire stack of die cuts in this layer die set together, I also achieve the inlay die cut technique, the eclipse technique and I create additional depth in the design.

I finished this card off by layering that thanks onto the edge of the tranquility medallion and added sparkle and shine with the fairy jewels in clear by Open Studio.

I’d love to know what you think of my design and of this super fun attempt at adding a twist to the eclipse technique. Please let me know in the comments.

  • Missing You | by Tracey McNeely

Missing You | by Tracey McNeely

Hi There, it’s Tracey back today with a couple of cards that are perfect to send out to someone that you have been missing throughout the pandemic!

I began by cutting two each of the Tranquility Layers die set using white heavyweight cardstock. I usually save this cardstock for my card bases. However when I want the main die cut image or sentiment to really stand out I do use the heavier weight cardstock.

I cut one die from the Tranquility Layers die set through a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ panel of white cardstock. Then I taped the panel to another panel of the same size with low tack tape. This creates a well for the die cuts for blending colour on to them.

I glued each layer together before I added colour to them, I usually do the gluing after but I am trying something different. Starting with Layer A, the one with the largest openings, I set the die cut into the well so that it doesn’t move around while I blend colour on to it. I kept the centre in place when blending my colours. You could do the centres in a completely different colour but for today I am treating it as a whole. I started with a very light hand blending a rainbow of pink, red, peach, yellow and green on a diagonal. I used Distress Oxide inks.

Next I moved Layer B into the well and did the same colours this time putting more colour down but still not heavy handed.

Finally I put Layer C into the well, this is the die cut that has the smallest size of holes. I used the same colours but I put these on with a heavy hand to really show the depth of the colours.

This is what my stencil well looked like after blending. then after I removed the top panel! To pretty to toss away. Can you see that while I was blending over the layers that it created another image on the bottom panel under the well. We will get to that later on. I will set it aside for now.

To finish out this card I glued the three thick layers together and the results are gorgeous. The double thick die cuts add so much more dimension. Thanks Jennifer McGuire for the tip!

I cut a 5 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ panel using Radial Pinpoint cover die as a background for my mandala. Next I cut the Hello Honey Script die three times with heavyweight while cardstock and glued it together. I did not use the shadow, only the word. This will sit in the centre of the mandala. Before gluing everything down I stamped the sentiment “I miss seeing you’ from the Brush Sentiments clear stamp set on the bottom right corner of the Radial Pinpoint cover die. I added a few Pastel Fairy Jewels to finish it off.

I didn’t think I was going to use the panel that underneath my well, but it was too pretty not to use. what happened next was an embossing mistake I think all of us have made at one time or another. I had my plates mixed up in my sandwich and instead of embossing over the image I cut it with the Layer A die and all the teeny tiny pieces! I was too far into it now to back out, so I put a piece of double sided adhesive paper on to the back of the die cut to pick all the pieces up together. That worked great but now the front of my die cut was surrounded by adhesive. Out came the scissors and I fussy cut around the outside of the die to get rid of it. Then I put the mandala onto a panel of cardstock that was a bit smaller than the card base, added a sentiment also from the Brush Sentiments clear stamp set and added some Bright Fairy Jewels.

So the process yielded two beautiful and yet similar cards. Thank you so much for joining me today and crafting with me. Have a fabulous day.

  • A Little Note For You | By Dilay Nacar

A Little Note For You | By Dilay Nacar

Hello friends, and welcome back! Dee here and today, I am sharing this intricate card that I created with the Tranquility layer die set! For this card, I decided to use a single color in three different shades for an elegant and sophisticated feel. I hope that you like what I came up with! Let’s begin!

First, I die cut the center circle of the Tranquility die (saving the outer layers for a future project), cutting layers A and C in white and layer B in all three shades of blue. I then adhered the layers together with each combination containing a blue middle layer.

Next, I cut a piece of white cardstock down to 3.75” x 4” and adhered the circles to it in a random pattern, and trimmed off the excess, using those pieces to fill in any gaps. I heat embossed a sentiment from the Rainbow Days stamp set and die cut it with a circle die (from my stash), and adhered it to the card with foam tape.

To finish, I added silver metallic pearls to the center of each of the circles for some extra shine and mounted the card onto an A2-sized top-folding base.

Thank you so much for stopping by, crafty friends!

    Tranquility | by Crystal Komara

Hello friends and happy Monday! I hope you all had a pleasant weekend. This is Crystal Komara here with you today sharing a fun design featuring the Tranquility Layering Set.

    Card details:

The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock as the first mat. I used the Pinpoint Radial Plate to die cut a piece of white cardstock that I adhered directly to that Bermuda Bay cardstock. I die cut the three layers of the beautiful Tranquility Layering Set using the Fresh Aqua 6 x 6″ paper pack. The top layer, Layer A was die cut from a light blue-green color. Layer B, the middle layer, was cut from a turquoise piece of cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad. Layer C, the bottom layer, was also cut from the Fresh Aqua paper pack.

I adhered the three layers of the die together using Lineco Neutral ph bookbinding glue ,my go-to liquid adhesive. I adhered the three layers to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I die cut the word “hugs” using the Hugs Honey Script dies. I die cut the bottom shadow layer from black cardstock and the top layer from white cardstock. I adhered both layers together before adhering them to the card. Lastly I stamped the sentiment “you are awesome” in Bermuda Bay ink from the Ticker Tape stamp set. I cut out the sentiment and adhered it just below the word “hugs.”

I hope you have enjoyed today’s card. I simply love using the layering dies from Birch Press Design because they are so unique! Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day.

    XO, Crystal

  • Using Layering Dies for Dimension | By Renee Moran

Using Layering Dies for Dimension | By Renee Moran

Hi Everyone, It’s Renee’ from Delaney Jane Cards here with a Dimensional card using small layering dies.I wanted to create something that could feel a little Christmas but could be used any time of year. I also enjoyed the challenge of using these small dies to make an entire card. Sometimes it is about stretching your dies to make them really worth owning.

I keep reaching for this small square layering die set called Honeycomb Mini Tile Layer Set. I often pull this out and then set it aside thinking, This can’t make that much impact on a card, can it? It can!

I die cut the three pieces of this honeycomb mini tile layer set from white cardstock, four times. I layered those all together to create four individual layered tiles.

I used the Happy Lingo Stamp and Die set to create the Hugs sentiment. I die cut it from white cardstock and stamped in some deep green ink. I chose to stay away from black in this card design because I felt it was a softer look.

I also used the Classic Sentimental Wreath Stamp and Die set to create a wreath with the layer stamping stamps. And I cut the wreath out with the coordinating die. I stamped the sentiment from the same Classic Sentimental Wreath Stamp set in that deep green to finish my design.

I added shine with some glitter cardstock from the Memory Box 6×6 Graceful Garden Glitter Pad and green and red jewels from the Open Studio Fairy Jewels Bright Jewels Pack.

I’d love to know what you think of my design and of this super fun attempt at creating an entire card using a small die and layered die cuts. And if you have any ideas on creative ways to use the Honeycomb Mini Tile Layer Set. Please let me know in the comments below.

  • You Are Something Special | By Amanda Wilcox

You Are Something Special | By Amanda Wilcox

Welcome everyone! This is Amanda from Twiddler’s Nook today with a fun little technique to try with your heat embossed images. I paired it with some layering die cuts and the beautiful Pinpoint Radial background die too!

Let’s jump in and get started. First, I chose the roundabout layering dies and a color palette from the Memory Box ombre paper pads. I absolutely love these for layering dies. I decided to go with a glitter cardstock for the middle layer on both cards so that’s where the second pad comes in.

After I die cut all of my layers. I chose background colors from two other Memory Box ombre paper pads as well. I die cut each one from the Pinpoint Radial Plate.

I used liquid glue to adhere all of my layers and then adhered the roundabout ring to the die cut panels. The pinpoint circles made it really easy to line up too.

I had kept the center circles from die cutting the roundabout layers just in case and decided to stamp a sentiment from the Brush Sentiments stamp set for each card on them.

Next, I pulled out the Lovely Butterflies stamp and die set and heat embossed two butterflies in white on vellum. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I pulled out a couple of copic markers and colored on the back of the vellum. Nothing fancy, this just gives the wings a little tint like stained glass.

I repeated the exact same thing twice so that I had butterflies for both of my cards. Then I moved on to assembling the rest of the pieces.

With the roundabout rings already ahered to the pinpoint background, I added foam squares to the sentiment circles and popped them up in the center. Then I added a dab of glue to the body area of the butterflies and held them in place with tweezers for a minute while the glue dried.

Once those were all dry, I added a scattering of yellow and orange fairy jewels to both designs. I just love the beautiful rainbow of colors that these come in and they give just the perfect something to finish off your design.

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

    Layered Delight | By Seeka

Hello! Seeka here and I’m so glad you stopped by!

Today I’m sharing a card featuring the Delight Layer Die Set in pretty coral pink colors.

I started off by selecting three coordinating colors of cardstock and cutting three sets of layers, using the lightest color of cardstock for the topmost intricate layer.

Next, I used a blending brush to blend a light red dye ink into the center of the lightest layer. Then, I deepened the color at the very center of the die cut with a darker red.

I repeated this three times and then stacked and adhered each set of three layers together.

Next, I used the Big Hello Sugar Script die to cut the sentiment from white cardstock four times. I stacked and adhered these layers together, for dimension, and then adhered the piece to the shadow layer which I cut from coral cardstock.

For the background, I blended some of the light red ink around the border of a 3.75″ x 5″ panel of white cardstock. Then, I adhered that panel to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of white cardstock.

To assemble the card, I adhered the three layered Delight die cuts to the background and then trimmed off anything hanging off the edge of the panel. I added the sentiment and jewel embellishments and then finished by adhering the card front to a card base.

Thank you so much for coming by!
